Declaratory order to Texas BON

Nurses Criminal

Has anyone submitted their declaratory order to Texas? I am getting very anxious as I submitted mine and it's been 3 months with no response. I know the process says 3-6 months, but I know some people who received responses in less than a month. I am just wanting to hear from someone else who had to wait also so I will not feel like there is necessarily something wrong. Thanks.

Can somebody give me some insight!

I applied to an ADN program & got accepted to start in January 2010!!!!!! I've been working SO hard for this :) I passed the drug test, got my CPR cert & physical & got my fingerprints from L1 done. Well, I got to thinking after I got my fingerprints done... I got arrested when I was 18 for shoplifting. I was always under the impression that because I did probation for it, that it wouldn't go on my record. Well I was never very clear on this so I called the court to ask, they said IT WILL BE ON YOUR RECORD :-0 I have been freaking out since Nov 17- the day I got my fingerprints done & called the court. I've been just waaaaiting for a letter or something to come to tell me what to do next. It's been FIVE weeks & most of my fellow classmates have already gotten their "you're good" blue card!

So... Does anybody know what's going to happen next???

I wish I wouldve known about the declaratory order when I REGISTERED for this program, so I could have done this all at the beginning.

I'm frusturated, scared, upset.... :( and it looks like I'm going to have to wait another year to start this program.

Any advice, help, or insight would be so very much appreciated. I can't seem to find very much info online about this kind of situation.

lexiloo,

call the Texas BON and ask them what your status is. They called me yesterday and thats the only reason I knew I was approved. I also needed to have the letter before I can start my BSN program in Jan....long story but I told the dean of nursing about my background and she said that I needed to get the D. order by Jan 5 or else they were going to give my spot away. Well it turns out when my school did a background check and nothing came up...so my dean called me and told me that I wouldnt need the letter by Jan 5 after all but I still needed to get it.

I submitted my paper work the first week of Nov...and did my background check a week before Thanksgiving. I also had a mis B shoplifiting when I was 17, I am now 23. Hope this helps, but I bet they approved you...its just taking awhile to get the letter. I have not gotten mine yet but she said they approved me on Dec 9.

Goodluck and keep us updated!

Well I still have not heard anything. It has been almost 5 months. I am so confused at how this process works. I hear people getting responses in a month or less and getting phone calls. I called the board and they told me they are still working on the August requests and that they do not make phone contact? I don't understand, how is there such a dramatic difference?

Sorry, I'm just getting anxious and I know its my fault for waiting to turn in the d.o.

I finally called a couple weeks ago, and they said... Oh we sent yours out back in November, it must've gotten lost in the mail! So I'm definitely ok :) Good luck to y'all... but when I called the lady was very nice & helpful so I recommend to anybody that is waiting or has question to just call the BON and hopefully they will be as helpful to you as they were to me.

I called last week and they told me a decision has been made and my file was sent to someone for approval of the decision. I wonder how long that process takes?

It only takes around 30 days I sent my declaratory off January 6,2010 and got it back February 8,2010.

Im in the same situation... and soo worried. I have been accepting into the LVN program and did my declaratory papers in TX about 45 days ago. Today i recieved a letter saying i needed to pay an additional $150 and that it had to go through the enforcement department. My school begins in little over a month and we have to have approval by the BON by the time we register for the classes!!!!! Has anyone had their papers go to the enforcement department and if so, how long did it take after they were transferred to get approved?? :crying2: Ive worked so hard to get in and already purchased everything I would be so devestated if I wasnt able to go now! Any input will help! thanks! (btw I have two misdemenors if that helps)

Have you heard anything yet? I am supposed to start the RN program here in Texas, but I just got the Enforcement letter too. I don't know what they are trying to investigate since I submitted all the paperwork I was supposed to w/ letters.. etc.. They went back 25 plus years for a DWI that I received when I was 18!!! I was told at the time that first time offense would be put on "diversion" and that it would never show up on my record.. Well that was a lie, and now I am not sure why they sent me over to the "Enforcement Dept.".??? I have one arrest that was 24 years ago that was dismissed in court, (theft), then a DWI that is over 7 years old.. Everything is old and nothing is a conviction, the DWI I was put on probation or diversion, again..told it would not show up. I have provided all the paperwork that the courts gave me which proves what I stated above. Does anyone have experience with this? Should I be worried? sad.png

I know its been a while but I have had the same thing happen to me! I recieved a letter after 3 weeks telling me I needed to send in $150 and I to am from texas. So what happened? how long did it take?

I sent mine in at the beginning of Nov 2010 and I too recieved the letter asking for the additional $150 and my case was transfered at the beginning of December and I still havent got any kind of answer, I'm already in nursing school and have to have my approval done in a little over a month so I am stressing sooo much! When I called last time they said they couldnt give me any recommendations but if I called back @ the 3 month mark (3 months since being transfered) they could give me some kind of info.... I'm praying it doesnt really take as long as they make it seem!! :uhoh3:

Your school let you in before having the paper? Do you just to have it before clinicals? Not sure how all this works! If I do get in I hope to have it back.... I have a friend who has not sent hers in yet and want to get into the program in the fall! Hope she does not experience going though this mess like us sending in the extra money! Good luck getting your paper work!!!
