Declaratory order to Texas BON

Has anyone submitted their declaratory order to Texas? I am getting very anxious as I submitted mine and it's been 3 months with no response. I know the process says 3-6 months, but I know some people who received responses in less than a month. I am just wanting to hear from someone else who had to wait also so I will not feel like there is necessarily something wrong. Thanks.

I wanted to share my DO experience. I was very concerned when I read many of the posts on this page. Fortunately, I did not have a lengthy and difficult experience completing the whole process. I had a shoplifting charge from when I was 18, which was 11 years ago. Even though I had a Order of Non Disclosure I still let the board know. I got a response within two weeks stating I needed to send a certified copy of the case. I am lucky to have a parent who is a lawyer so I didn't have to pay for this. If I had not had a lawyer in the family I would have had to hire one and pay for the attorney to get a judgement from the courts to obtain this copy. Its quite a hassle, so for those starting the process, be prepared to deal with this if your charge is very old. I sent the cert. copies overnight and received my clearance letter within 30 days. My advice to anyone starting this process is to be honest with the board and provide all documents that you have. An Order of Non Disclosure WILL show up on the FBI background check. If you dont have an order of non disclosure it should be fairly easy to get a certified copy. Good luck to all and please message me if you have any questions.

i know this post is old but I have a theft and got a non disclosure.. submitted my DO and certified copies through certified mail. I start the program spring 2018 do you think mine will be over 30 days

I was in the exact same situation as you, had a misdemeanor theft charge and got a non-disclosure. It took a couple of weeks after mailing the DO, but once it went into review it only took 30 days to receive a decision from the Texas BON, and this was October 2017.

what nursing school did you get accepted into?

Hi everyone just wanted to post and say thank you to all of the folks that posted info in reference to the Declaratory Order process. This process seemed so discouraging at first but after reading what seemed like hundreds of post from this board I got on my journey. I still had questions however on the process a bit so I wanted to post my experience and what I learned. I applied to nursing school in Sept 2016, there was an informal meeting on whats required to get in program, I was advised if you had ever been arrested are convicted of a misdemeanor that you had to submit this " Declaratory Order" to the board and get approval to even start nursing school. The lady giving the orientation said a DO can take 3-6 months are more. I was immediatly discouraged. I knew I had been arrested for unpaid traffic fines that had turned into warrants back in 1999 and I had a disorderly conduct and a bad check( less than $50) from 1998. All these offenses had been taken care of but it was the idea of tracking down the right jurisdictions and getting the paper work. It took me 4 days and a few trips to the municipal courts. So I had finally gotten all the paperwork and I typed a letter as to what had happen, but that is where everything kinda stopped, because the DO paperwork says they need your fingerprints along with your DO paperwork to start review, I called the school and they said to wait until November , and if i was sent an acceptance letter then instructions would be in there to go get the fingerprints done. I called the board and was told by 1 person to wait but then i got a very nice lady that said don't wait send in your DO paperwork and within 10 days of receipt of the paperwork then a file will be created and that will give authorization for fingerprints to be done. so I mailed my paperwork next day mail to BON at the end of Sept and after about 2 weeks I called to check if they had my info and I was told yes then lady said to go online and follow link to schedule print scan. After print scan was done i waited another 2 weeks to check to see if prints had came back in and lady that answered said they had but they didn't automatically attach to my file so she sent something over to attach it?? she then told me it will take 30 days for initial review. But now its mid Nov and Im scared I won't have my approval back in time for nursing school....I prayed on it and started to relax about the issue but I checked the mail and I have recvd the letter saying ok to enter prog but within 90-120 days before graduation I have to submit a paper application for approval to take NCLEX for licensure.

What a relief!!. If you are like me and need to submit the Declaratory Order please do it EARLY!!!!!!

I know it has been years since this post was made, but I was just curious as to how detailed the declaratory order should be? I don't want to give so much detail that I overdo it. Thanks!

Hello this is old but I hope you reply I am going through this process with the same charge but my case was dismissed. Do you think it would be 30 days? I need my letter by Jan 21 or I can’t start school

i saw where a lot of your sent your paperwork to the bon or got in touch with them before you were accepted into the program... does this make it easier or harder to get through to them? i sent an email but im doubtful i will get a response

Hello,

I submitted a Declatory order to Texas board of nursing beginning of August. I have about 40 days to get my response to my school before I will be forced to withdrawal. I know the process could take 3-6 months, but does anyone know what the average time is right now? Is it realistic to think I may get it within 40 days?
