Well I gave birth to my son in February and have decided to keep going after a temporary freak out wondering if I should or stay home with my son. I'll be heading into sophomore spring semester of my 4 year BSN program. Taking assessment 2, micro, patho and pharma. Any other mommies with young babies going back? He will be 11 months old when I return. I'm very very nervous to leave him and be able to focus on my studies. Part of me feels like I can't do it if i can get through this hump I'll feel so much better knowing I'm over halfway done- for some reason that sounds so much better to me than having 2.5 years left lol. Good news is hopefully I'll be well versed when I'm in OB next spring!!

So, have you officially been accepted into the program or do you have to apply after these classes? If not, you will need to be able to focus and get good grades. Nursing school is extremely competitive.
I waited until my son was older. Babies and toddlers need constant attention. If you have an excellent support system it will be easier. But you need that support. I can tell my son who is now 9, hey mom needs study and homework time and he can entertain himself. Small children can't.
You just have to do what is best for you.
I've been in the program for 2 years already, had to take 2 semesters off afer giving birth and am going to be going straight into sophomore year spring semester of the 4 year BSN program. My husband is incredibly supportive and my MIL will be watching him while I'm at class.

My suggestion is to keep on going! I have an almost 3 year old and an 18month old and I'm about to give birth any minute. I'm praying I'll give birth next Friday so I can go back to class on Monday and pull through till the end of the semester which is mid-December. Keep going and don't stop! You can move mountains with just 1 child!

I started nursing school when my youngest was 8 months old. It's tough, but with really good time management skills, it can be done! Best of luck to you

Well, there you have it. You have the critical ingredients for a successful run at a nursing degree. You are lucky to have that kind of support.
Good luck!

I saw a picture on facebook shared to a nursing group of a young mom cradling her sleeping son in her arm and the other hand was taking nursing notes and studying. Very inspirational and who knows what support everyone has but in the end it gives the child a better future.

I went back to school to finish pre-reqs when my twins were 11 months old. I'm in my first semester of nursing school, and my twins are two years old now. Having people to support you and help with child care is essential, and it sounds like you'll have great support from your husband and MIL!
Sometimes I feel guilty for spending so much time away from them, but I just keep reminding myself that im going to school so they can have a better future.
