My nursing manager is honestly the devil is disguise, she is evil. She tries to stir up drama between employes by exaggerating comments and also down right lies about things. It's not just me that feels this way, it's about 98% of us and then of course you have the few that she favors.
She has left me alone for the most part, I try to stay away from her and it's worked until recently. She approached me regarding some paperwork that wasn't my responsibility , but since she has to take the blame off her self she manipulates situations to make things seem as if she is correct in her thought processes. After defending myself she went on say, "alot of people are telling me you are over here doing homework on work hours. Dr. john doe even said you were doing your homework". After much confusion I approached Dr. john doe (whom I work very closely with and have a good relationship with) and asked him why he would say such a thing. He denied it and asked who told me, he then told me to stay in his office and grabbed evil manager to confront her about the accusation. She denied she said it, but after I stood my ground and said that others were around and could verify she said it she admitted and tried to change it around to "what I meant to say was"...
Dr. John Doe is not a fan of her, and even has expressed his feelings to me about her. Ever since this incident she has gone out of her way to make my life miserable...I get the worse schedule, she denies my time off requests even though I put them in at least a month is advance (which is what is required) and she is down right rude. I am at the point that I absolutely hate going to work. I dont want to leave because of her because I have worked there for years, but I feel it's unhealthy for me...I'm miserable at the mere sight of this woman. Several other nurses have left because of her and she has been quoted to say, "that person is next to go" and then makes their life hell until they have no choice but to leave. I dont understand how she can still be employed as our manager , yet she is...I dont know what to do anymore. I would hate to leave just for the mere fact that she is trying to push me out the door. What would you do?
Also, there is no talking to this woman..... she is impossible.
I once saw a nurse manager pick up a PDR and throw it at a fellow nurse who was "sitting in my chair". She literally knocked the nurse off the chair, calmly walked over and sat down. I was standing there with my mouth hanging open shocked. The nurse manager looked and me and said "What is your problem? She was sitting in my chair". I found another job two days later and left.

Yikes! That's awful!
I would be finding another job. And contacting your employee relations department of your parent company.
Make 100% sure that you protect yourself. If you have malpractice insurance, ask for their advice.
It is easy for the IT people to see that you are not using company computers for "homework". The powers that be can also see the timeline of your charting and meds. So what is being said is just not true, and can be proved.
Look for something else, make sure that you get copies of your evaluations that may have been done so you have them for your records, and be sure that as you go, you have conversation with employee relations, HR, and even risk management--as no telling WHAT the heck she is saying you (and 98% of your coworkers) are doing, not doing, sort of doing......
Best of luck!
I took my boss on too. Just quit the job. She only favored ones who already worked there and never listened to a single thing I had to say. Until I over her head to HR, I was given the option to resign so I took it to protect my license.
I think if I had stayed they could set me up. I will find lots more jobs, but not another license.
Nursing has a lot of cut throat crap and nasty managers and we would all think otherwise in a caring profession.
Jobs like these just move on. Don't even waste your time with low minded people.
I am changing my whole career because I don't like the whole nursing mentality but I always like to finish what I start so I do not look like a quitter. At least I know more about healthcare now than ever before.
I had lots of intentions on going for NP or even med school and now I know the truth and how tied up even they are. Not worth the debt or stress plus too much paperwork and policies in place.
The way I see the hospital works is basically there is a political, admin side that uses the poops out of our license to the max. So what I mean is they don't do any of the work, but just make up policies and sit and have coffee and bs over this is how it should be done. They also know that med srug floors if we give a nurse 3 patients then he/she may have time to take breaks or even a lunch. So let give them 5.
Then if you look at med surg with generally 5-6 patients try Psych. You do not get 5-6 patients in Psych. I heard in Psych nurses get 7 or more but generally 7. See these admin people know how many patients they can bombard us with and so the hospital can maximize $$$$$. Doctors are the same way. They have them running around doing cases non-stop and many times they don't get lunch or even a tiny break.
IF you do something like MPH degree or MPH with MD then you ride on top of all this without actually doing all the running around and probably bank some serious $$$$.
So all in all, they make us use our license to the max where it is risky to even lose it because you were so tied up with one patient that you could not attend the other patient who lets say started coding or something.
Nurse managers have the same feel. They ride on top of all this. Nurse educators the same thing. It is actual bedside care that kills every bone in your body and mentally drains us. Abuse from smart tush family members, well verbal and sometimes physical.
This is why bedside nursing is what is open all the time. No one wants to do it. I would rather work at best buy than do bedside.
Anyways move on. Not worth wasting thoughts over this. Pretty much I have been reading a lot online and seems like we all have the same exact stories, but with slight variations.
Nursing has some serious issues which are not being dealt with and I don't have to time for nursing to change rather I am just going to either change my job or the whole damn career. By the way being male nurse sucks!

You and I could have the same manager! I have been "safe" for the most part, but it seems that the majority of nurses I work with have been thrown under the bus multiple times for things they either had no control over or didn't even happen on their watch. I'm leaving this employer, along with the rest of the full-time and most of the part-time night RN staff, two night LPNs, and one night CNA (this represents nearly 90% of the night shift workforce). One can only hope that the mass exodus will cause some serious introspection on the part of the manager, but I'm not holding my breath.

A mean-ish boss is nothing new, but lying about your work performance with false accusations is a very, very big deal.
I would a. ) leave the facility or b.) address this further (might see if you can get fellow RN's--and the doc-- to sign a group statement).
You're not dealing with a rational person here, let alone an ethical one. You're dealing with a power-tripping, sociopathic little Caligula. She is putting your professional future at great risk.
I'm very sorry you are in this situation.
