Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Anybody thinking about El Centro/ Northlake in the DCCCD for Jan 2006?

Specializes in Operating Room.

it sounds neat to me, i've always wanted to be part one. now, maybe time restraints, etc may be the problem.

that's right.....another gooooooood luck to all! :)

i can't believe we are actually down to just hours (hopefully)!!!!

jenn, you'll definitely have to let me know the good news!! i just know you will get in! i hope i do too! i am hoping we can become study buddies!

has anyone heard of the dallas nursing sorority? they are trying to get a beta chapter started for the the newbie students and they would be our strength and help guide us. they said none of the students have ever been interested before. i told them i would be greatly interested in something like that! then you get accepted into their sorority as soon as you graduate. the lady i talked to graduated from twu with a bsn and is a nurse at the va hospital. she is planning on going back for her masters so i know she would be really helpful. they said they are trying to get together at least 10 nursing students to get a chapter started in dallas. i think it would be neat. is there anyone else that thinks that would be a good idea? i am trying to figure out why it wouldn't be received well in previous semesters. please explain if you don't like the idea.

one more good luck to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i would be interested in it too. i wonder how come others didn't want to do it. does your friend like working at the va? i know the va is one of the hospitals to choose from at el centro for clinicals.

Here is the website for the sorority : http://www.chietaphi.com/ and then Texas is the middlesouth region and from there you can find and email the local Dallas chapter. Maybe if we all emailed them showing our interest then they would be more apt to starting a beta chapter.

lalajenn, she says she loves the VA hospital. She said she just started for experience and then she wound up staying for the past 8 years. She said the pay isn't as much as other hospitals but you get buckoos of vacation time. She said she has 650 hours!! then unlimited sick time. That is just CRAZY! She said that she went on vacation for 2 months and still has 200 hours left for the year. She didn't mention whether she had accrued this many hours or if that is the set amount. It just seemed insane to me! hahaha. She was also saying we would never have to worry about jobs and that the only nurses that don't have jobs are the ones who don't want to work. That was a big pull-in for me was the job security. :)

I hope I don't wake up before noon tomorrow!! I just want to take a sleeping pill and get this over with! :rotfl:

It says the Dallas area undergraduate chapter is Lambda Eta Beta. Has a nice ring to it. lol

I'll read more in a few...still trying to figure out my take home chemistry exam. 52 questions & I've only answered 2 non math questions. :uhoh3: :uhoh21:

Yeah I heard they don't pay very good but the vacation time helps it all even out. I was thinking of working there. I have gone there before with my dh (he is a veteran from the Army) and they all seemed really nice there. I always had a soft spot for soldiers with growing up in the Army and being an Army wife. Anyways that is crazy but sounds really good!! How much do they pay hourly there, do you know?

Weekends I normally sleep late but I will be thinking of that letter, with my luck I will probably wake up early! lol

Will go check out that website for the sorority! :)

I'm not in Texas, but I'm waiting on a letter also. The school I want is in Clarksville, which is an hour and a half away. I got a letter from a school that is almost 4 hours away in exactly 2 days, so I'm hoping that this school will only take one. Geez, don't these schools know I would have paid money to have it overnighted if it were gonna take longer or I would have driven to Clarksville and picked it up from their post office? I'm really anxious, or couldn't you tell? I don't think I will make it to Monday and pleeeeeeeese don't tell me someone dropped or misrouted my poor THICK envelope. I just know I got in and all I want to do is see the words ''We are pleased to inform you" or '' Congratulations" . I'm praying for all the other applicants, fingers and toes crossed ---all that.
