Dcccd 2006

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Anybody thinking about El Centro/ Northlake in the DCCCD for Jan 2006?

I emailed Tricia H. at Brookhaven and asked her about the Chem class (taking 1406 or 1411 instead of 1405) and she said she didn't know that she would have to forward my email to admissions, and that they would have to decide. I would prefer to take 1406 because if we move and I have to go to TCC then that class would transfer.

I guess I will find out next week some time.

Oh yeah, do you know or does anyone know if in the nursing program at ECC or brookhaven, if you are just taking the nursing courses is it like 8-5 or 8-3p?

L&D4ME....one class at a time or not, keep it up. It will pay off at the end....just watch out for the 5 year rule with your sciences!!!!!

As for chem, if you haven't had chem yet, do not take 1405. Take a higher one such as 1406, or 1411. I am taking 1411, and Brookhaven said they would accept it because it is a more advanced course than what the require. (UTA's RN-BSN requires 1411 or higher.)

I moved to Tarrant county, and pay out of county fees now to DCCCD. I've always went to NLC, or another DCCCD campus since I graduated high school. I just feel more comfortable there.

Good luck! :)

L&D4ME: I'm not sure who I spoke with. I'd definitely take at least the 1406 if there is a chance of moving to a district where 1406 is needed. You would have to take 1405 here, move, then turn around and have to take 1406. ...waste of money & time. :)

I don't know about hours.

Hi TXKAT. Good luck on the NET, and your application. :)

Hey do you guys know it EL Centro/ Northlake accepts CLEP credit for any of the nursing pre-req courses?

My best friend is thinking about applying along with me! I am so thrilled that she and I may be in this together.

She has all the pre-reqs but CLEP'ed out of Algebra and got credit for it. Will they take that?

I think I remember them saying they did. If you can clep out of it, you pass. I don't remember how they do the ranking though, but I'm pretty sure they will take it.

The only thing she can do is apply and see. :)

Does she have all of her immunizations yet? The NET?

She has all her immunizations and will take the NET this week.

I will tell her to call up there this week. Thanks for the info FUNNIE!

Does anyone know what time the El Centro Health Occupations Office closes? I just need to make a copy of my shot records and then it's ready to be turned in! I want take my packet in person.

OH! And I recalculated my GPA on my support courses..I thought it was a 3.5 but no, it's a 3.77!! I hope that a 3.77 on pre req's and a 3.77 on 13 out of the 17 credit hours is good enough to get in.

Good Luck to all who start classes tonight/this evening.

My class starts at 7pm. I hope it's not too boring, but how exciting can Speech be?:chuckle

Well, I am an official applicant, too. :heartbeat I turned in my papers today. Good luck to all of you!

3.77 with 13 support credits is good. That is what the cut off was for last semester (for those starting right now-fall'05). Maybe it will stay the same.

I'm not sure what time it closes, I know on Friday it closes at 12, but that's tooooo late to turn in your app! :) (I turned mine in on a Friday...lol)

LKG6: WOOOHOOOOO! Welcome to the applicant club! lol

Ok, we have around 15-20 days and we should all have our good news packets in our hands!

Do you think it is going to be that fast? I think they will need more time to decide.
