It is with a heavy heart that we announce the loss of one of our most beloved members, Daytonite.
Daytonite was instrumental in working with the nursing students here at allnurses.com. She was always there for them as well as the seasoned nurse. Her love, however, was teaching those in a nursing program by leading and guiding them here at allnurses.com.
Daytonite had been ill for a while; more seriously in the past 8 months. She passed away on April 8th, 2010.

Wow! This is so sad! It did occur to me the other day that she hadn't posted on a couple of threads I thought she would surely have jumped on...allnurses won't be the same that is for sure!:heartbeat:bluecry1:
I had no idea. I'm graduating in a week and she was the first person I planned on messaging. There are very few people that have touched, helped, and comforted me in the way she did. To do it on a message board with no face to face contact made it even more powerful.
To her family, I am so very sorry for your loss. Your family member was a surrogate part of mine.
I am so sad to hear this news. I didn't know her but always gravitated to her posts and printed out so many of her explanations. It is us up to the rest of us to be the one to step up and tutor those that need it, to give a pat on the back to someone that is struggling, to be the first to stick up for a student nurse that is learning, and to educate patients to the best of our ability.
I was shocked to find this. I've read so many of her threads and benefitted from her enormous knowledge base. She will be missed and like others have noted, my condolences to her family.
I also didn't always agree with Daytonite, but I am sad to hear that she has died. Deepest sympathy to her family and friends.. she did make a huge contribution to nursing students and will be missed.

It is with a heavy heart and tears in my eyes that I read about Daytonite's passing. When I joined allnurses in '05 she was one of the first to welcome me here and help me make up my mind about a future in nursing. She always seemed eager to help those of us who didn't quite understand things the way we should. I will miss reading her posts here on AN. This place won't be the same without her.
To her family and friends I extend my deepest sympathies.
I am also saddened to hear this. I noticed that she had not been around as much lately, but did not realize she was so ill. She helped me greatly as I was working my way through LPN school, then when I did my RN transistion program. I will graduate soon with my BSN, and I will have her on my mind as one of those that I attribute my success to in my career.
Much love Daytonite...your wisdom and wit will be missed by so many. I hope to honor you by mentoring our newbies as they come along, doing so with you in my heart.

She will be missed on allnurses.com. She was very helpful and I learned alot from her. I send my condolences to her family and friends!!
