Hi fellow nurses! I am scheduled to take the exam this Wednesday (March 21, 2007). I'm starting to feel anxious and "blank"! Any advice will be highly appreciated. Thanks! :smackingf

I'll be taking my Nclex in afew weeks, Just try to focus on what you already know!
I think Nclex is more the promotion that reality. Not that it's not hard, but just remember the answer will be in front of you.
Don't over study, since it's just a day ahead, take a goos night sleep, no coffe and a chocolate bar the morning before to raise up that sugar and increase your concentration!
Best Wishes.
Keep up posted!
Thanks Yira! It has been my habit to drink coffee every morning. And most of my classmates told me that they ate chocolates while taking the exam (during breaks of course) in order to increase concentration. How true is this? Good luck to you too!
I know it's gonna be hard for me too. I usually drink coffee 3x a day. But I found this pretty interesting:
[...] researchers find, can be solved by controlling distracting influences and building a study space that helps you focus.
When distractions are present, force yourself to focus more intently. Soon you'll build a habit which enables you to ignore distractions.
Keep a pad of paper handy to jot down extraneous thoughts that cross your mind while studying, get them out of your mind and on to paper.
study goals before you begin each period of study. (number of pages, number of problems, etc.)
Design adequate rewards after specified goals are attained.
Break-up the content of study by mixing up subjects. Building in variety removes boredom.
Make the most of rest periods-do something quite different. A good guide is to work for 1 1/2 hours, rest for 1/2 hour, and then work again on a new topic.
Don't try to mix work and play. Keep your study time focused.
Start with short study periods and slowly build to longer periods only as fast as you maintain concentration.
Make a calendar of events, refer to it to clear your mind of distractions.
Realize that you won't lose friends, respect, or a "good time" just because you're studying ... these will keep. Plan separate time for socializing.
Over time, plan the length of your study period by the amount of material you have decided to cover.
Hope this works for you.
Please let me know sometime Wednesday how was it!
P.S. I trying to give you a lift up, but I'm scared to DEATH. (LOL)

good luck and just focus on the question in front of you. i found the nclex not too bad at all. i originally sat my state boards in 1977 in tasmania, australia ( yep i am still young lol ) then once i had moved over here it was the cgfns and nclex gauntlet. i actually enjoyed the study and practice exams.
i pray your nerves abate and that you will succeed in your nursing career.
do let us know how you go and what you thought of it.
good luck to all sitting the nclex. :monkeydance:
HOmeyko, How did it go?

Hi guys! Took the exam yesterday. I don't really want to talk about it because I want to get over it...just for awhile. The agony of waiting for the results begins! :uhoh21: The computer stopped at 200 items with only 15 minutes left...I don't know what that means. I had health teachings (mostly discharge instructions), prioritization, delegation and medications. Anyone who experienced the same # of items with only few minutes left? Did u pass or fail? I trust the Lord. I will accept whatever the result is with my whole heart. I know he will give it to me at the right time. Anyways, congratulations to all who recently passed. Good luck to all those will take the exam. Take care and God bless! I'll keep you posted...Thanks for all your prayers, advice, and moral support.
