Hi everyone - I am new here but am starting at DNI in the night program in August. I saw some old feedback, and was wondering if anyone has some recent feedback?

Specializes in AA&I, research, peds, radiation oncology.
Hey PurpleLVN, I will be taking my Med Term and Pharm online. Patho is offered at DNI online. I will keep you informed at their program. It is a new program, recently got approved. I am sure there will be trials and errors. I will be in the first class and I plan to reach out as much as I can to my instructors. I have realized that nothing is perfect and what you put in is what you get out. I have been an LVN for 22 years, raising kids and working great jobs. But now is the time for me to get my RN. Many programs required repeat of prereq and you still have a time getting into their programs. The waiting process is a killer. Many programs have a waiting list, GPA's have to be at least 3.0 and above. My science courses are over 10 years and DNI accepted them. I have been practicing nurse in the corporate & clinical areas and have utilized my skills. I feel comfortable able the transition and is quite excited. Keep posting and I will follow to encourage others to do the transition. See www.dni.edu for futher information. Good Luck!:wink2:

I agree, there will be glitches but this is our goal!! I've passed my HESI2 on Nov. 22 and now must complete my app. before I know more about what's been excepted. I've turned in my transcripts and am thinking about doing my patho at CCCC in Jan. since I've never taken it. I've been an LVN for 7 years, also raising kids and have had great jobs but I'm ready for more respect, duties and money! ITA with the waiting lists, GPA'S etc. needed for other programs. The cost is a bit much but I'm determined to make it happen!!

Just to let everyone know, DNI does plan to implement a night/weekend RN program in the near future! I don't know the details, but one of the RN program leaders is who told me.

that'd be awesome. But it's just too expensive to do again.

Great!!! Hopefully it will be in place when I'm ready to go!!!! But night clinicals will probably be a killer!!!!

Yes, I'm sure night clinicals will be hard, especially if you work full time and have just finished a day of your regular job. Right now I work full time Mon-Fri and we do our clinicals on Saturday for 12 hours each week. That's also no fun at all, sometimes I would rather do them at night during the week and have my weekends to myself. Right now the only full day per week I have off is Sunday.

More than likely it will be night classes and weekend 12-hour clinicals. That's how we did it.

Hi everyone!

I currently live in MI and will be relocating after my graduation from Michigan State in May. My degree will be in health studies since the nursing school was way too hard for me to get into at my current school. I've been looking at DNI and I have a couplde questions...

Exactly how expensive is the school? Since I'll already have a BS I'm not eligible for any federal grants or anything other than loans.

Do credits transfer?

How hard is it to get into the RN program?

Thanks!

I heard the RN program is about 26,000. Your run of the mill college gen ed classes will most definitely transfer in, as they do not offer anything other than the nursing classes. I think.

Is it only a LVN bridge program or can you start out right at the RN program if you dont have an LVN license? I was kind of confused about that on the website...

During their orientattion, they stated they accept LVN's and non-LVN's.:nurse:

Hello, I am excited:yeah: to be starting the ADN-RN Program for DNI on 01/19/10.I am an LVN of 22 years. :nurse:.... Any students that have the prereq can start the program. Generic students(non-LVN) will have 5 semester of classes. Where as LVN will have 3 semesters. I also have a BBA(Bachelor Of Business Administration) from Northwood University in Cedar Hill. I am eligible for loans because I am current and not in default. I went to the clinical lab yesterday to do my drug test, I have my schedule and ready for class. Whatever it takes to make your dreams come true you have to do it. Alot of people will complain about the prices:twocents: of the tuition, but it is a private school. The program has just been approved this past year. There will be trials and error, but what you put in is what you can and will get out of it. I plan to get with other students to form some study group, because I know this will be an intense program. The school also accepts prereq from other colleges. The only thing that has a limitation on it is the Patho(5yrs). I love Nursing and helping others....Just post a question and I will help anyone that needs help. I will be in the program and that way, I can keep you guys informed and encourage you all to join. I feel like if the program does well, it will give some of the local programs a run for their money. It will also give other students that have been applying to other programs, that have not got in, other options. Good Luck to all,

Tomorrow is my :hpbday: and I could not have asked for a better gift..."Getting into the program is a great birthday present....Enjoy!!!!:stdnrsrck:

I already passed the Net test. I have an appoitment on Jan 22 for the day class that starts in feb 2010. I'm so nervous but excited at the same time.
