Cypress College

Anybody apply to Cypress College or is planning to? I was dumb enough to go the first day, and even though I was a half hour early, I ended up waiting a good 4+ hours for an application. Probably not the best set up I've seen, but whatever, this is the school I want to get in! So, here's the thread for Cypress, and wishing nothing but the very best to all us 2011 hopefuls!

NCamp ~ Don't feel discouraged...I know the feeling, believe me! Where there's a will, there's a way. You never know. A friend once told me "Once God opens a door, no one else can close it". I can relate to all of your feelings though. I know they told Cookiedough that the letters weren't going out until December but the counselor said during the info session they'd go out toward Mid to Late November. Maybe they're just trying to be safe and say December in case of any unforeseen delays or because of an overwhelming amount of applications. I wouldn't think they would admit people after registration has started... but maybe an early registration date isn't important for the nursing program because all of the classes are pretty much exclusive to nursing students. Maybe the registration process is different than that of the rest of the school? I'm not sure.

We're all in the same boat feeling all nervous waiting for that letter to come haha. I am just afraid what might happen if I don't get in because I went all in for Cypress College with 29 points, but after reading your guys' totals, it kinda scares me now lol Good luck to us all! :)

so um, did anyone else apply to other schools? To what I recall, I think Cypress had a early application date, with Saddleback being in February and all...

Hey guys and gals! I just wanted to update you since I know we are all eagerly awaiting our letters. I asked the office if there was a more definite answer as to when the letters would be mailed out since we have all received different information and the gal at the front desk said that while she couldn't give a specific date, the letters are ALMOST READY! I think we can expect to have them mailed before December if they are almost ready :) Good luck to you all!

You should all receive your letters soon because I just got my letter today! I was chosen as an alternate so I'm crossing my fingers that some spots open up! Good luck everyone :)

Watch your kids! Watch your wives! Watch your MAILBOX! I got my acceptance letter in the mail this afternoon, great success!!!

guava, I'm so happy for you :) How many points did you have? Hopefully we'll be classmates!

Thanks N Camp! When I applied I thought I had 29 pts, but I realized I got another one from some nerdy science class I took when going to UCI.

So..I had 30 points too, 4.0 prereq GPA as well. I'm hoping everyone on this forum will be classmates come round January! Gah now need to spend a ton of money getting tests and shots =*(

I am an alternate too... went in with 29 points. Anyone know how many alternates there are and what our chances are? This is almost worse than not getting in with the having to wait even longer!!

I'm currently taking Intro to Nursing with Shirley Ashburn who is one of the Nursing instructors. She said that MOST of the alternates (if not all) end up getting in. I think there are just as many alternates as definite acceptances so between 40 and 50. So have hope, especially because with 29 points you are definitely higher up on the alternates list than I am, and most others I am sure. I totally agree with you that it feels worse. We are the ones in limbo... having to do all of the testing and immunizations and whatnot without the definitive answer that we will be in.

I did read on one of these threads that they start filling spots after the TEAS scores come in. So some of us should know *hopefully* before Christmas.

Thanks for much for the info, makes me feel a little better! Good luck :)

I'm an alternate also and have to go through the motions as well.... kinda frustrating since it's still a waiting game until January. For the TEAS exam, is everyone just reviewing with the TEAS 3.0/4.0 online assessment and study manual? Also, does anyone know when the first day of class will start?
