Anybody apply to Cypress College or is planning to? I was dumb enough to go the first day, and even though I was a half hour early, I ended up waiting a good 4+ hours for an application. Probably not the best set up I've seen, but whatever, this is the school I want to get in! So, here's the thread for Cypress, and wishing nothing but the very best to all us 2011 hopefuls!

gotcha =) I don't mind getting there early, my other job starts at 4pm, so I was curious. Thanks!

Specializes in Ortho, Med/Surg.

Keep in mind that every semester is going to be different! There are different amounts of lecture & clinical hours that you need to meet course objectives, so there really is no set schedule.

I'm in my last semester at Cypress and overall it really has been great. They do a great job of stepping up your knowledge and preparing you for practice! So hang in there everyone!

Leah, Jessica, & CaGuy, have you guys been working while in the Cypress program?

I've been working on Saturdays only. I know a few other classmates work upwards of 36 hours still.

I dont work because I did not work before the program started. I have 2 small kids, so between them and school I dont have time!

I work one 12 hour shift per week - and sometimes even that feels like too much! Luckily I have very flexible hours, can change what day I work, I even skip a week if need be... but my best advice is try and get a job that gets your practical experience, that will help you with your future nursing career... ie something in a hospital, preferably PCT/CNA, unit secretary, etc... Many of which you can apply for with as little as 1 quarter-semester nursing school experience!

Thanks all. Jessica, that is really great advice. Thanks so much for your input. Thank you guys for coming on here in the midst of work & school to respond to us. I appreciate it very much. :D

Are they starting to sent letters out at the end of this last week of October? Do u guys know? Thanks!

Cookiedough- I think she said sometime mid to late November is when they'll be sending them out..anyone else hear that same timeline?

I just check with the Nursing department, the letters are going to be sent out the first week of December.

haha, hoping we'll be getting an early x mas present!

Hey guys! I applied to Cypress this fall as well. After reading your points totals I'm feeling more discouraged than when I applied. I'm going in with 28 points. I know it's still considered "competitive" but I've got a feeling that it just won't be enough for an acceptance. We'll just have to wait and see :) I'm keeping busy with some medical related classes this semester (Intro to Nursing, Nutrition, Medical Terminology, Abnormal Psych, etc) but it just isn't keeping my mind off the fact that I still have another MONTH to wait.

Since the letters aren't going out until after registration starts, are you guys registering for classes in the Spring in case you aren't accepted? I figure I may as well register and then drop the classes if I'm accepted this Spring.
