Cypress college RN program

Hi just wanted to see if anyone has applied to the RN program at cypress. Maybe we can talk with each other as we sit and wait for a decision. I just applied Sept 1st and am turning in docs tomorrow. We gotta stick together ladies!:yeah:

I am on the alternates list i dont know what rank though.. I geeard fromm the admissions lady though that they accepted everyone from last semsters wait list.. I wonder when we will find out?

Does anyone know how they pick from the alternate list? I have all 30 points. But unfortunately, I got an alternate spot.

It's also mandatory for alternates to attend the orientation.

I don't understand the alternate list? I got 30 pts and got put on the alternate list. This sucks.

Same, I (and two other friends) have 30 points and got on the alternate list, too. I have heard that there were more than 700 applicants this year. Many of which had veteran priorities (See: "LIFE EXPERIENCES OR SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES: 7. Veteran Status - Copy of DD-214" at http://www.cypresscollege.edu/ad/uploads/33/F11rnselectioncriteria.pdf) who get priority before applicants with 30 points regardless of their grades.

I understand and respect the fact that this life circumstance is given priority since what they have done is admirable and harder than studying; but it is definitely disappointing to find out that two or more years of your hard work would outcome to a 'maybe.' In the past, 30 points would definitely get you in at Cypress. Furthermore, 27 was even considered competitive before this application period (Workshop 2012). With the surprising amount of people needing to go back to college, it's becoming more and more competitive.

So, it's time to apply to other colleges. :)

Damn I remember hearing that in the workshop but didn't think that it would keep me from getting in. Well lets hope some people fail their TEAS tests. I've been studying since August :dead: Good luck to you and your friends, I definitely feel what you guys are feeling.

i didnt get the invitation for orentation, i re read the email and said they already picked every one including the waitlist people.. who knows those they might pull some more up from the waitlist?

Well welcome te1990 so happy for you such an exciting feeling. Can't wait to see you all at orientation. I am on the CNSA board as a rep. You should join our CNSA chapter there are tons of benefits. We will talk about it at family night. For those of you confused on if you had 30 points and not being in thats just weird 1st of all reply to the email and request how many points you were awarded. Sometimes mistakes are made you have to be proactive. The veteran thing is limited they have a few spots for them its minimal.I can't wait to meet you all we are one big family here at Cypress. Oh and fyi we had over 750 applicants last year and used all of the alternates and a couple that weren't even on that list. Good luck for those who need it and CONGRATS IF YOUR IN OMG YOUR IN
