Cypress college RN program

Hi just wanted to see if anyone has applied to the RN program at cypress. Maybe we can talk with each other as we sit and wait for a decision. I just applied Sept 1st and am turning in docs tomorrow. We gotta stick together ladies!:yeah:

I’m deciding which books to buy and which ones to rent for the semester.

Could you tell me which books you primarily used and which ones will be utilized in the coming semester (like is the Med-Surg book good for more than one semester?)?

Hi dangitcypress yes med surg is good all of 1st and 2nd I dont know beyond that we also use fundamentals (Taylor) for both semesters Ackley is needed for care plans and Pharm you use all 4 semesters. Those are all necessary for you to have and you need to have fundamentals right away because you have to read the material before the lecture you will be given a quiz like 5 times so read before class they are enough to change your grade. Dangitcypress I forgot also get the Saunders NCLEX review guide it has a yellow and white cover really condenses the info

OMG Gizelle22 so sorry for the late reply!! I misplaced my password and finally found it!! Thank you for the info about final week in clinical!! We first semester students all LOVE LOVE LOVE you so much for helping us all the time!!!

Hi Mochiko that's so sweet of you to say. Well I just remember what it was like and it meant so much to me when someone was there for me. I will help out in anyway I can promise and if you ever see me in the hall feel free to stop me and ask anything you need. If I can answer it I will. Thanks Gizelle22!! You are right... Sometimes I feel like crying in the middle of lecture, lab, clinical etc... It's a great help that we have a person like you around us!!

Don't worry it will get better just have to find your rhythm. Don't get me wrong it's not easy in the sense that it's very time consuming but people have done it before and we can do it again. I'm so glad you think I'm helpful that makes my day. See you tomorrow

Well here to update this thread. It is almost the end of my 2nd semester. So 1year in to the program and it is just headspinning (in a good way). I am finishing OB and I really love this class it is a department I have always enjoyed so that may have something to do with it. I am looking forward to getting to meet the incoming class next month during orientation and family night. I can't believe it's been a year since my orientation time goes by so fast.
