Cypress college RN program

Published

Hi just wanted to see if anyone has applied to the RN program at cypress. Maybe we can talk with each other as we sit and wait for a decision. I just applied Sept 1st and am turning in docs tomorrow. We gotta stick together ladies!:yeah:

Good Meekomix just safe to make sure I had 30 and the computer didn't get it all calculated right so going in and talking with the counselor is what saved me or I would have waited on the chronological list not even alternate. My older posts talked about it I was devastated but it all worked out. I had the points we just had to review the paperwork and with 700+ applicants that's hard to do to each one. Good luck keep us posted

Gizelle22, can you tell me the shots that are required?

They are going to give you a list and you have plenty of time but to start you off you need your flu shot and a 3 series tb test not the normal 1 the health care provider test. They will give you a packet at orientation and explain it all. I know its like omgoodness I'm in what to do so there is a little info. Anything else let me know if I can answer it I will . Dont do anything till they tell you to just relax your in

I guess you already know how I feel. I was just thinking that doing all these shots at the school is so much cheaper than getting them done in another clinic, and I got little worry because I do not know if the health center will stay open after next week since it is the final week!

If anyone needs to buy the TEAS book version 5 let me know because I am done with mine.

Yeah I know exactly how you feel. When I read your post about getting in I got all excited like it was happening all over again. I'm not sure what the health clinics hours are but i know a whole bunch of our class got them done there and had no problems at all. The other benefit of doing them there other than price is that they know exactly what you need. They are super use to it. I know it's hard feel like your sitting on your hands but I'm pretty sure you need your orientation paperwork before the health office will do stuff but call them and check. What day is your orientation?

My orientation is on thursday next week at 2:00 o'clock. Are you going to be there?

Like I posted earlier I got 30 pts and am on the alternate list. So I emailed the school and they told me that many applicants had 30 pts and many were put on the alternate list. I was also told I would not be guaranteed a spot in fall 2013 if I end up reapplying. This seems kind of lame. Gizelle22 I was wondering how many students do they accept on the alternate list usually?

I spoke with our counselor and I did get 30 points. She also told me that I do have a chance of getting in this spring, and the lastest would be getting in on fall. I am very hopeful! I hope it all works out, just like yours. I will definitely keep you posted on my journeys! I hear you are going to the orientation?

Hi all I will be at orientation and won't leave till after it's over in case I can be of any help. for the alternates all on our list were used as well as the semester before. Alternates have a great shot at getting in because Cypress accepts so late some people already accepted elsewhere just in case. They can't guarantee you a spot in Fall but seriously it would be out of this world if you didn't get in then if you don't right now. We ended up taking people with 28points in my class and were still not at full capacity. Just be positive and go to orientation you never know. Getting in is amazing and alternates have a great chance. Just keep moving forward.

Gizelle22, do you by any chance know the locations at where we are going to do our clinicals? If so, are they going to be the same for the entire two years? Do we get to choose them, or they assign us to them? If they do, based on what they make that decision? Sorry, I am about to move in the following weeks, and I need to know to what area. Do you think I should move close to Cypress College or close to the clinical location? Thank you in advance...

Hi te1990na

The clinical sites change throughout the 2 years. In the 1st semester we kept the same facility. I went to St Judes and we also had Los Alamitos (Garden Grove I think) San Clemente and Placentia Linda. Now these can change depending on the hospital and if we are still working with them. In 2nd semester I have had 2 different facilities in 3rd there are 3 I think Im not there yet but do not move to be by clinical facilities because you can never be sure of the one you are going to get. You get to request your site but thats not a guarantee. I don't know exactly what they use to decide thats a faculty secret :) I know someone who lived across the street from a facility and didn't get it. Being by Cypress is probably your best bet. I will give you more one on one info at orientation just grab me after and we will chat. Now that doesnt mean to stop asking here I know questions come up in your head feel free to ask.
