Hello,

I am 1/2 way through the Masters program(Education focus):heartbeat at Walden University. Wondering if anyone else out there is in the program or has completed the program.

How was the evidence based research class? I will be starting that class on Jan 5th. I envy your progress. My graduation date is May 2010. Any tips?

Thanks

Please tell me about Walden as a choice for an RN-MSN. I am in the process of gathering information.

Hi, I am a nurse educator and am preparing to begin the program in March. Anything you could tell me would be appreciated. Thanks a million, Deb

I am starting in March 09. How is it so far? I am in the education tract. How about you?

The classes are do able. I don't really find them hard. You post discussion questions, responses to classmates, and write a few papers each 8 weeks. Not too bad. I am in the RN-MSN tract-education spec. I did not have have a BSN so I am doing the 3 years. I have completed the first year. The only thing I really didn't like the first year was the team projects. If you already have your BSN you will skip that first year and have no team projects. You would hten only have the 2 years. It really is not hard, just time consuming writing papers.

They are sticklers for APA format. There are porgrams that format papers for you. If you have Word 07 it has a formatting program built in.

If you have specific questions just ask. You can email me privately if you want.

I am also a student at Walden University and I abolutely love it :redbeathe. I am in the MSN program with the education specialty. It is a whole bunch of papers but if you can knock that out you should really do well. I am due to take 6140 and I think that I have 6 or 7 classes to go before I am done :yeah:

Start looking into the APA format because it is the format of choice for papers and the more familiar you are with it the better of you will be.

Best of luck and feel free to pm me with any other questions that you may have now or once you begin in the program.

I am in the education specialization track. I am NURS 6100 now. How do you feel it is going? Still have 3 or 4 papers per class and the discussion postings? I don't find it too bad. What about the portfolio assignemnts? Are they pretty tough on grading them? I would PM you but I don't know how to PM--at least I cant remember

I have only taken the first one hour class. I start my first course, legal aspects of nursing, or something like that, in March. What did you think about that course? I like the cirriculum. It is truly tailored to the nurse educator. Some of the grad programs have too much extraneous crap not even related to nursing education.

I am in Walden's MSN education program. I have a couple of classes left, then my practicum, and then I'll be done. It has not been too bad so far. Some nites I have been so tired that I didn't want to face schoolwork. I am the DON at a nursing home, and the job leaves me exhausted. Think I will step down from my position at work when it is time for the practicum. Don't feel like I can do justice to both at the same time.

I feel SO blessed to have found this forum. I am into my first class at UofP and have decided to dis-enroll today and start at Walden. My degree for a RN/BSN track alone was going to cost me somewhere in the vicinity of $24,000! I have just talked to a good friend of mine who is about a year into her RN to Masters program at Walden. She loves it! And to hear that it will only cost around $20,000 for her Masters? I was floored! Please continue to post here with your suggestions, opinions, comments and positive supposrt for this program. I will be checking in frequently! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!

I still feel that Walden is a great choice. I still find the classes manageable, although all the papers gets tedious at times!

Has anyone done their education spec classes and/or their practicum yet?

Shari

Any more current reviews of this university? My manager highly recommends it but I still have reservations. :uhoh3: Any one in their leadership track?

I am not in the leadership track, but many of my classmates are. I still find it manageable. It is not difficult unless you have trouble writing papers. There are papers for each class.

I still manage to work fulltime, assist my husband with church, and have time for my family. I do not have small children, but many of my classmates do and they find it in not a problem.
