CU Denver Nursing Spring 2012

Published

Anyone else out there apply for CU Denver Nursing Spring 2012 start? I applied, having issues with my account saying incomplete but the school says all is good.

Going nuts this morning thinking about how long I have to wait to find out. First I was told letters would go out mid August, now they are saying late August. But I see people from previous years not finding out till early October. Crossing my fingers for mid August as Fall semester starts August 23 and plan to take courses if I don't get in or don't hear back from them.

Let me know if any of you hear back or have details that I may not know about the process. Hope everyone else is doing well during this waiting period.

Kristin

Hi Kristin6608,

You are so right.. the call list is indeed torture, but like you said, it could be much worse! We, the call listers have until Sept 15th to respond wanting to remain on the list (I sent mine right away ) Maybe the acceptees have the same deadline? Just guessing...

I received my letter this morning. I was also put on the call list :( I guess it could be worse but the torture continues. I wonder how many other people are on the list as well.

I am guessing the people that have been accepted have a deadline to accept and make a deposit...? Does anyone know this date? Or any other details that would be helpful?

The acceptance of your seat in the program is September 15th and there was a tuition deposit. Hopefully some seats free up and you all can get in! Stay positive!

I got accepted to the accelerated program. I thought the decision would come later and was stoked to receive it. My cumulative GPA is 3.6 and my pre-req GPA is 3.9 or so. I agree that the essay is HUGE! I worked really hard on it. I also am a massage therapist so that may have helped. And I am currently considered out of state, so that may have been a factor also. But I should be in state by the time school starts. I am very excited to start this program. Waiting until January will be hard.

Good job to all those accepted. I'll be seeing you at the orientation.

hey marianbells! i'm glad to hear from someone who will be in the accelerated program with me!! i'm so excited! where are you moving from? i just moved to denver in july and am loving it so far. are you on facebook?

Hi Amelia422,

I would send this in a private email, but looks like I am not allowed to yet. Anyway, I actually moved here in Jan. from Eugene, OR. I finished my pre-reqs at CCA. I actually live really close to the Anschutz campus which is awesome cause I can walk or ride my bike.

Maybe we could meet up some time. I only know one person in CO. It would nice to know some more.

Cheers, m

Hope you don't mind but I'd like to add you to my facebook too. I also did my pre-reqs at CCA. Maybe we had a class together at some point.

For all of you posters that are on the call list... don't give up hope! I started at CU in Summer 2010 and I too was call listed at first. In fact, lots of my fellow nursing students were call listed. From what I have seen/heard, they usually go through the entire list. It was rumored that for the Summer 2011 class they went through the whole call list and even started calling people that they had originally flat denied.

So here's my advice: stay positive, keep your self busy and start weighing all your options. Most importantly- answer your phone even if it's an unknown number!!! When they have an opening they just start calling people on "the list" until that position is filled. No message, no time frame to call back, you either take the spot or you don't. However, if you do miss the call they will just put you back in the rotation, so you aren't totally screwed, that happened to a couple of my friends.

Congrats to those that were accepted, and again, all you call listers... keep the faith!

Cdids,

THANK YOU! seriously, thank you. I really needed some kind of encouragment to help me develop some faith, and your post really helped! I have followed your, as well as some of your classmates ( limemade) post as well, and was so excited for you all! The wait, and the unknown is whats killing me! I have started working on my plan B of completeing classes for UNC, although I really would like a call before class starts, but a begger like me can't be picky at this point, so hopefully these classes will keep me busy. So I'm going to remain positive and hope to have a happy ending like you!

Thanks again Cdids!

Received my acceptance letter at the beginning of the week. My cumulative gpa is 3.9 & my prereq gpa is a 4.0. I do believe my prior military experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant helped out a bit.

congrats, thamorenita! were you accepted to the accelerated program or the traditional?

Thanks. Traditional. It's crazy though. I actually thought my essay had a few flaws in them. Weird how that works.

Thamorenita- I was trying to figure out out to email you personally, but I didnt see any place to do it. How was it getting out and using your GI Bill? Finding a job? I've heard a lot of people having issues with the GI Bill when they get started. I'm really hoping to get into CU Denver in the traditional program as well. Any tips would be great- I'll be back home in less than 2 years now.. it feels like i should really start figuring things out now! Thank You!
