CU Nursing Essay...Need help with critical thinking question....
Hi Kessie87, I agree with Chyna016. I also wrote about a problem I solved. I helped a lady who was having a seizure, while we were waiting at a bus stop. It was a very scary situation, but I needed to be calm, and help her the best way that I could. In my essay, I just explained the steps that I used to help her. I too was accepted for January start. I hope I was some help, and I am wishing you the best!

CU Spring 2012 Applicants
Hey Guys, So I know you all have probably read my depressing post about me being call listed, well I am glad to announce that I am no longer in that boat because as of today I have been accepted into the traditional program!!! OMG that was the longest 16 days that I have ever expereinced! LoL! This morning I received a call from a lady named Sarah. She told me to just look for my packet in the mail next week to get all the information I need. I know I should probably just wait, but from reading your post, I understand that a $250 deposit is due. Do we have to send that in before September 15th? Any and all information you all may give to me would be awesome! Thanks so much guys and I will see you in Janauary!!!

Call Listed for CU Denver 2012 Start???
Hello Everyone! I wanted to start this thread for those who have been placed on the call list at CU for the 2012 start date. I, being one of those call listers just thought it would be a great source of encouragement if we could come here and share our bundle of emotions as we continue to wait, and also post any new information that we may learn about the call list in general or our admission. I am also just curious on what you all may be doing as we wait for the call? I have registered for two classes that will fulfill UNC's pre-reqs for their admission (application opens January, I think:confused:) I have also started to revise my essay to submit yet again to UC-Denver for their June admission. With all that going on, I am hoping to be so busy that my mind won't be allowed to stare at my phone for hours in the day! Anyway, as I have said in the other thread, I wish you all the best and seriously, if there is a will there is indeed a way, so we will get into somebody's program!

CU Denver Nursing Spring 2012
Cdids, THANK YOU! seriously, thank you. I really needed some kind of encouragment to help me develop some faith, and your post really helped! I have followed your, as well as some of your classmates ( limemade) post as well, and was so excited for you all! The wait, and the unknown is whats killing me! I have started working on my plan B of completeing classes for UNC, although I really would like a call before class starts, but a begger like me can't be picky at this point, so hopefully these classes will keep me busy. So I'm going to remain positive and hope to have a happy ending like you! Thanks again Cdids!

CU Denver Nursing Spring 2012
Hi Kristin6608, You are so right.. the call list is indeed torture, but like you said, it could be much worse! We, the call listers have until Sept 15th to respond wanting to remain on the list (I sent mine right away ) Maybe the acceptees have the same deadline? Just guessing...

CU Denver Nursing Spring 2012
Hey Everyone, I wanted to give a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to all that were accepted. To all that were not accepted, I feel for you, all the while feeling very confident that sooner or later you all will live out your dreams of being accepted to a program that will help you become a GREAT nurse! I too applied for the Jan 2012 start date and was rejected and put on a call list (as was a friend of mine) I remain hopeful that I get that "special " call but, if not my plans b and c are going into full effect! If theres anyone else who were call listed please do share, I thought all who were denied were automatically put on the call list , I just learned that is not the case, and I'm starting to feel alone as I have developed this paranoia over my phone and unknown numbers! LoL Thanks for reading and let the dreadful extended waiting begin. ..Ahhhh!!!

CU Denver BSN Essay
No problem! I am so glad that you are nearly done with your essay! I am too-well somewhat. I went over the page limit by 5 lines! I am trying desperately to see where I can cut out somethings but since I already cut out A LOT of my details my mind is telling me that I cant afford to do anymore. So maybe I will just have to re-word them or something?? So I have a question for you now, how did you format your essay? Did you include a heading? I started typing from the first line downward and boy does it look cluttered! The website does not specify how to format it other than labeling the answers "A" "B" and "C" and typing it single spaced so I'm clueless??

CU Denver BSN Essay
Hey there competition! lol Thank you for your suggestion on the margins, it helped! At first I was a bit hesistant to change them, but no where on the website did they indicate a margin range right?! And man tell me about it, they ask questions that I feel need a in depth answer not a quick paragraph. I am trying to make every word count and have meaning, but right now after I edited my original essay by taking out certain details, I feel that I am just strictly getting to the point for a one page limit sake-it does not represent who I am-not yet at least! Thanks again & I hope you do well!

CCD discontinues ADN nursing program.
The program is awesome because you do not have to take all your Pre-Reqs at CCA. In your situation if you wanted to apply to the program you will just have to transfer the credits from the classes that you took at CCD to CCA so they can see that you actually took the class. The dean told me a month ago that this year they really want the 30 something students they select to take their pre-reqs as a team. However, she said because the program is still fairly new they would understand if that was not possible, but she insisted that a person needs to take at least three of the pre-reqs with "the team" if you had taken all of the pre-reqs and could take less to none with the others then she advised that you just apply to CU the regular way (that was my issue) I was so desperate to get into CU that I told her that I would withdrawl and repeat some classes with "the team" just so I could get that golden ticket of a promised entrance into CU, but she said it would be poor advisng on her part to allow me to do that. Anyway very long story short if you can, definitely go for it! The app is still open until June 15th. You would still have to put in a app to CU as well as CCA ( CCA's pathways app only asks for you to list the grades you recieved in your pre-reqs-so easy!) It would be so worth it! Take care!

CU Denver BSN Essay
Hi Linsaylat, I too am applying for CU's 2012 start date. I am struggling with the essay also, my problem is the length. I, for the life of me can not figure out how to condense my essay into the one page that they are asking. My answer to the first question alone was one full paged single spaced:eek: Anyway, what I did in answering question #2 concerning nurses roles is include both some of the specific duties that a nurse performs as well as some important characteristics that they display as well. I think doing it in this way will show the reader that we have a good idea if not the full grasp of what a nurse really is-If that makes any sense. I am sorry I could not give you advise as if I was a student at CU-Denver and I will try to see if there are any threads that may further help you. I wish you the best! Andrea

CCD discontinues ADN nursing program.
I really think that CCD is making a great move to create a pathways program. My school CCA opened a pathways program to CU-Denver for the first time last year and it was basically first come first serve, if you applied you were in. I was (honestly still am) jealous because now even though the application process opens every year concurrently with CU-Denver , just like CU it is sooooo hard to get into! I was disqualified automatically this year because the dean of the program said I had completed too many of the pre-reqs and I wouldnt be actively apart of the cohert...bummer. Anywho the moral of this story is for any BSN hopefuls who still have a while before thy complete the pre-reqs, keep close tabs on CCD for when they open the pathway program because the first year they will probably be lient and accept anybody just to get it started.

UNC Summer 2011
Hi SD, Sorry, I did not reply sooner, this last semester is really kicking my butt! Anyway, Thanks a million for all your information. Yes, I will be applying to CU this May, I would have turned it in as soon as the application opened but I am just really struggling on my essay so I am hoping that once I graduate May 7th I will have time to clear my mind and just take a week or so to really focus on the essay. I still would love to apply at UNC this December but the fact that I have to take four more classes plus become certified as a CNA is really stressing me...but hey, I really want to become a nurse soon so I will do what I have to do. I am thinking that I might do as you did and take the summer off just to recooperate and celebrate graduating with a degree. ( I have 2 boys ages 4 and 1 years old, and I have been in school since I graduated high school...yea it basically has taken me 4 years to get an A.S:o and I am just a simply tired 22 year old) I know you will be busy, but please post your experience at UNC, I would love to read about how it is going! Take care, Andrea
