  1. I'd recommend looking on alibris.com! I found a lot of the books on there to be cheaper than on amazon. That's a good idea to review A&P...I'm sure that will be really helpful for health assessment.
  2. Thank you so much for the great info! I've been waiting anxiously for them to send us info about classes, etc. so I'm happy to know a little bit about what it's going to be like! I'm really glad that you like the program so far...I can't wait to start in Jan!
  3. Hello all, I was hoping that someone currently in (or recently graduated from) the accelerated program at CU Denver could give me a little insight on what your day-to-day schedule is like, especially in the first semester. Are you in class all day 5 days a week or do you get breaks? I'm just trying to prepare myself for what to expect in January :-) -Amelia H.
  4. we have to send in our deposit by september 2nd! i think i am going to end up going to CU just because of the price difference, so that will open up one spot! good luck everyone!!! :)
  5. I just found out that i got accepted to the accelerated program! i also got into the program at CU denver so i'm not sure what i'm going to do yet! regis is a lot more expensive, but the program is also shorter. such a hard decision! congrats to everyone else who was accepted and good luck to those of you that are alternates! i'll keep my fingers crossed for you :)
  6. congrats, thamorenita! were you accepted to the accelerated program or the traditional?
  7. hey marianbells! i'm glad to hear from someone who will be in the accelerated program with me!! i'm so excited! where are you moving from? i just moved to denver in july and am loving it so far. are you on facebook?
  8. I had a cumulative GPA of 3.8 from Wake Forest University in North Carolina and a 4.0 pre-req GPA and I applied for the accelerated program. I really think the essay is a key part of the admissions decision too!
  9. my online status still says that a decision will soon be made...so i'm guessing you'll get your letter before the online status changes!
  10. i live in greenwood village and will be doing the accelerated program :)
  11. Hi everyone! I just got my acceptance letter for the Spring 2012 accelerated BSN at CU Denver! I'm still in shock, but so excited! Has anyone else received an acceptance letter? I'd love to hear from some of my future classmates!! :) -Amelia
  12. Hi everyone, I'm new to allnurses and am so glad that I found this thread! I just graduated from college in May with a BA in Psychology and am very interested in applying to accelerated BSN programs. I'm currently working as a clinical research coordinator in the surgery department of a busy NYC hospital. I often get to observe surgeries, and just got certified in phlebotomy at the hospital because I will need to be able to draw blood for one of the clinical trials I coordinate. I didn't realize until my senior year in college that I wanted to be a nurse, so my healthcare experience before now is very limited which is why I got a job with lots of patient contact...I'm hoping that will help me get accepted somewhere! My undergraduate GPA was high, but I did not take a lot of science courses. Assuming I do well in the prerequisite classes and get strong letters of recommendation from my current job, I'm just wondering what my chances are at getting into one of the ABSN programs. I have heard that acceptance is extremely competitive, and I was hoping that some people who have been accepted wouldn't mind sharing what their GPA was and what previous clinical experience they had when applying so I can get a better idea of how qualified (or not!) I am. Thanks so much!
  13. Hi! I'm also new to allnurses and just found your post. I'm actually hoping to do the exact same thing...direct entry masters into a Women's Health NP program. I've been doing a lot of research and there are a bunch of great programs out there. I'm thinking about applying to Case Western in Cleveland, Northeastern, MGH, and BC in Boston and a bunch of accelerated BSN programs at other schools where they also offer a women's health NP program that I could apply to after finishing my BSN. I graduated from college this past may with a BA in psychology, and am currently working as a clinical research coordinator in the surgery department of a hospital in new york where i have a lot of patient contact. I'm taking the necessary prereqs now, and am hoping to have them finished by the end of next semester. My undergrad GPA was strong (3.69), but I have always been terrible at standardized tests and am stressing out about the GRE! I wonder how strongly the GRE score weighs in on the admissions decision?? Keep me posted on where you end up applying and how your essays are going! -Amelia
