Hello, I just thought to start a thread, for support and information for the future nursing students from Connecticut area. As we all know, it's hard to get in to the program. so let's try to work together with new advisements, precautions, suggestions and support. Does anyone is ready to apply this coming spring? has anyone has taken the TEAS test? :nuke:
Right now i am going to Clovis for my prereqs... my children are still homeschooled, and I use NVCC to homeschool them. My oldest already has 40 credits towards his AA in digital arts tech. (he's always changing). My daughter is starting this Sept. Since my son is only 16yrs old, I still have to drive him. Next fall, he will be older with his license, my daughter willl be older with one year of NVCC under her belt, and I can be free to go to school in CT or New York. She is 13 yrs old now, so for moral support I will do my online classes in library waiting for them.
Great you are working hard! let me just give you few advise. there it' a website call ratemyprofessor.com if you go there and look for your school you are currently attending you will also find the teachers by subjet. before you register for hard classes like math, stat etc. check the statuses of this teachers, it will help you to choose which teacher reliable and patience to others specially when you work hard. if you need any help by all mean let me know.:wink2:
As someone suggested, I definitely would look at going over the borders. I applied to all the CT schools and got denied. I got into the LPN program but really that was a last resort. I got an acceptance into Becker's RN program a few weeks ago in MA and will be attending there this Fall. There NCLEX pass rate is 93% as I checked through the MA DPH. I suggest looking elsewhere beyond just to cover your bases.

Hello, thank you for that Info. May I ask you, what was your score for the TEAS? and what was your first choice school in CT when you applied? how competitive is the school you have choose in MA? is the school accepting new students from CT? what is the schedule like, and the distance?
thank you:confused: sorry for the questionary

My score on the TEAS was an 83 which wasn't terrific. My first choice was SCSU Accelerated because I already have a bacherlors degree. They are accepting new students. The distance for me is about an hour each way but I will suck it up for the two years and since I already have so many classes transferred like the A&P and Micro and English and Soc I will only have to go 2-3 days a week.
Hello everyone,
I just wanted to let you know, that I just took my TEAS test @ Norwalk Community College and got 80 passing score. In my opinion the test was not hard but it required knowledge of lots of chem and Physics. the english part was a piece a cake, the math you need to be fast. percetages, geometry, calculations ect. overall i'm happy to know that I will be able to apply to the CT, colleges.
by the way I also wanted to mention that I went to Goodwin college and the admission dept was terrific.
OK.
:wink2:
Thank you Regi,
When are you planning to take the TEAS test? be aware the Biology is the most crucial point. there is not much of AP , little Chem, Physics and math (lots) . so please review Biology more than anything. questions such as what planet is more similar to the earth: Jupiter, Venus, mars and so on...honestly I guess the answer in this one. there was also questions about classification of rocks in the planet? what will cause the earth to move the tetonic plates? like i say before lots of Biology!!!
got a new question!!
I'm having a debate wheather I should applied to NVCC as first choice or Capital at Hartford.
I would like to know the compentitive ratio about those schools...any one?? thank you:rolleyes:
Congrats on a great teas score. I'm up on August 26th. Did you get the study guide? Did it cover the sciences? Did you get your scores right away? I am also debating between Gateway and Capitol as my first choice. But I'm leaning more towards Gateway. I can only tell you what they told me at Gateway. They received apprx 650 applications, about 300 met the qualifications, 96 were accepted. Those selected based on rank had an average gpa of 3.4. I didn't find out the average teas score.
Have you taken the test Goodwin uses as an entrance exam?

hello Ms. Deannah
Yes I did get the study book from the ATI center. did cover the Chem and Physics more than Human Anatomy or physiology. I recall maybe one question about AP such as: does insulin is produce by the pancreas or liver.
any case, if you have the same book, I can tell you some points with pages noted. let me know ( before I start forgetting the questions)
You will get your score right away. Wow, I'm shocked to see the amount of applicants at Gateway...I suppose the Capital have to be more requested, since is the capitol.
I have not taken that test yet at Godwin....my God they want $70.00. for the test. I just pd $ 50.00 for the registration. any way I will see if I can register.
I'm planning to apply at bridgeport program too.:typing
Raquel
OK!!
Deanna, I hoped that you get a great score....
I went today to NVCC and I was upset:no:, because I was told that I needed to take Computer class and get a better grade for Comp I...I got a C ...with out the - or +, however I was upset becasue to better my grade I took Comp II and got a B..therefore I don't see the need to go back and retake a class that I have taken in higher level and got a better grade...
I got turn off. so maybe I will go to Gateway as first choice instead.
There were 300 applicants last fall at gateway per NVCC inf.
