CT-CCNP 2017

Has anyone seen this addendum on the nursing curriculum packet page 9 for the 2017-2018 school year? I'm really, really hoping they're not adding any more prerequisites because I'm chomping at the bit to leave my current career and another year would be so hard!

"Based upon current curriculum planning these course requirements may change slightly, once finalized a transition plan will be put into place."

So I found out a couple days ago. At capital community college if you are a LPN and you're excepted into the nursing program you will not start until fall of 2018. I was told some of the other community colleges does not do that to any of you guys know which one actually has the true fast track program when you would start in fall of 2017

I have a quick question I hope someone might be able to address. I have applied to the nursing program with Gateway as my first choice and Norwalk as my second. I have met all of the requirements (A in anatomy/physiology, 86.7 on the TEAS, A in chemistry, AB in English req, B in Math req). The only problem is that my official transcript from one of the colleges through which I received my Bachelors degree is not in a sealed envelope. It is in fact an official transcript I just took it out of the envelope when it came in the mail because I wanted to look at it. I didn't know at the time of opening that it needed to be sealed to be considered an 'official transcript' and now I don't have enough time to order a new one/ submit it before the deadline. Do any of you know if it will make me ineligible? Or if there is a possibility admissions might look past it due to the fact that it is a final, official transcript from the registrar just not in a sealed envelope. Thanks

@wlake326 is there any way you can hand deliver it to your college of first choice before Wednesday?

@#FutureRN

It wouldn't arrive in the mail by Wednesday given that it takes 2 days just to process the request from my school. Do you think there might be a possibility they accept it as official? It has the official stamp/signature from the school.

The way I look at it is: if there is absolutely no way for you to go to the school yourself, then it doesn't hurt to put it in the mail.

Its either don't send it in, which will disqualify you or mail it and hope that it's processed and on time. If you decide to mail it, I would also call your school of first choice to ease your mind of the situation.

I wish I had an answer for you. If it were me, I would hand deliver it to the school (even if it meant taking an hour or two off from work). It's worth it!

Wishing you you some peace of mind on the situation and that your application is considered!

Thanks so much for the response I really appreciate it. Im a little confused by what you mean by hand deliver it to the school though. I will be hand delivering all of my application materials on Tuesday including the official transcript that has been opened. All will be received by the deadline but it's physically impossible to get the new official sealed transcript mailed by Wednesday to then drop off at gateway being as it takes at least 2 days to process the request and the request won't be received until tomorrow morning when they open. I am just hoping that even though the transcript was opened that it is still deemed official.

Anyone willing to share there stats for the 2017 nursing application.

Nursing gpa - 3.78

Teas- 71.3

A&P - A

I'm so nervous! I wonder what the applicant pool looks like this year! Where is everyone applying? My first choice in NVCC second is Norwalk.

Nursing GPA-3.71

teas- 77

A&P 1- A

Nursing GPA- 3.68

AP1- A

Teas- 72

Still don't know how to calculate my nursing GPA so I'm assuming the worst

GPA 3.1 (hopefully higher)

A&P I B

TEAS 76.7

Are you calculating all the admission classes such as, Math, English 101, Computer class, Chemistry and AP1?

Then also any other classes that are apart of your nursing career classes.

All of my classes except chem are transferred in and I don't have access to the original transcripts. 3.1 is hopefully the worst.. but it may in fact be my GPA. Lots of Bs
