Has anyone seen this addendum on the nursing curriculum packet page 9 for the 2017-2018 school year? I'm really, really hoping they're not adding any more prerequisites because I'm chomping at the bit to leave my current career and another year would be so hard!
"Based upon current curriculum planning these course requirements may change slightly, once finalized a transition plan will be put into place."
Does anybody know when they are going to have us take the drug test? I met with my advisor yesterday and he said the registration period starts from may 1st and ends june 1st and that after you register they will request it and you have three days to go to the lab to complete it. I am just wondering whether it is going to be after june 1st or earlier. Anyone have any idea??
Do you mind sharing your stats? Thank you! And congrats xx
GPA: 3.12 (But this is overall, not sure what my "nursing" GPA is)
AP1- A-
AP2- C+ (I took this one quite a while back and I was worried about whether to retake...)
Chemistry- A
CSA- A
Math- B+
EN101- A-
Lifespan Dev- B+
Sociology- B+
Psych- B
Microbiology- C+ (took it over the summer at NCC...very difficult to take during summer, I don't recommend... but I decided it'd be better than taking at the same time as even harder nursing courses. I was barely under a B- at 79.6)
TEAS: 85.3%
I took a lot of the courses that are part of the program already, to help "lighten the load" once it actually begins.

Thank you so much for the info, I really appreciate it! Xx

Skippy I don't know if you already took Microbiology but if you plan on taking the hybrid summer course, I hear it's considerably easier to take at Housatonic CC. The professor at NCC is very good, but her tests are very hard and the labs can be overwhelming if it's been a while since you worked with scopes and slides. There is A LOT of info crammed into a little over a month. Check out the ratemyprof ratings. She's a tough cookie, but I learned a lot from her.

I have not taken it yet, I do plan on it, acctually I was thinking of taking it next summer at NVCC... housatonic or gateway would be my second options. Thank you for the info, I acctually have little to no experience with scopes or slides (didn't take highschool Chem, and didn't do well in HS bio) but I will take your advice on that one. I have been checking that site out, I'll do a search. Thank you so much. Xx

I have no idea how the professors are in other colleges, but the professor in Norwalk is very challenging so be forewarned. Also, if you take her hybrid summer course, check the blackboard several weeks before the official semester start. She'll start posting assignments (I'm not kidding) early. The summer course at NCC is very heavy, so prepare yourself for it if you take it there. I would definitely brush up on microscope knowledge (components, magnification power, how to handle slides, specimens, etc) too.
There's a prof at NVCC that begins with an **; don't want to say names for Micro. Let you know how I do with 2 weeks left. I struggled with the 2nd exam was so much info and prepping for an AP2 exam it was brutal. Keeping fingers crossed can knock out a B- in the class.
Retaking AP2 I think. Hoping can achieve a C+ in the class and receive reimbursement from work for it. Looking to take the hybrid class at NVCC next fall.
Then trying to take an online college algebra class at Tunixs and taking Chem 1 at NVCC.
State, Lifespan, and Chem 2 in the following Spring.
Then maybe a language class in the summer.
