Has anyone seen this addendum on the nursing curriculum packet page 9 for the 2017-2018 school year? I'm really, really hoping they're not adding any more prerequisites because I'm chomping at the bit to leave my current career and another year would be so hard!

"Based upon current curriculum planning these course requirements may change slightly, once finalized a transition plan will be put into place."

i have friends at ccc who are still taking AP2 but have registered for nur 101. you can register; they will drop the class at the end of the semester if you fail the AP2 class.

Hi everyone!

I came upon this thread and saw some of you were looking for more info regarding clinical scheduling and how to make it work with your employer. I am about to graduate Norwalk's program so I hope I can give you some sort of an idea of how this works. Clinical can be any two days of the week, first semester I believe it is usually Thursday/Friday or Wednesday/Thursday and I believe the time frame first semester is only 6.5 hours so from 7a-1:30p. First semester is a little bit different than the other 3 semesters because you spend one day in lab at the school which is considered "clinical" and one day at your assigned clinical site which may be a nursing home or possibly a hospital. They do suggest you quit your job but since this is highly unrealistic there are many people who have passed through the program with a job and kids at home. This is not easy and the people who did not have to work definitely have had an easier time managing work loads and studying (people aren't lying though that as the semesters progress it only gets tougher). You can definitely pull off working part time when you are not in lecture or clinical so don't be discouraged, you just need to put in a little bit of extra effort and stay up on the weeks lessons and assignments. I may be getting ahead of myself but for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th semester you will have clinical two days a week still but the scheduling is a bit different. Clinical can be morning or evenings Tues/Wed, Wed/Thur, Thur/Fri, or Fri/Sat. Something they did for us in second semester which seemed rare was that they offered clinical on a Saturday for 12 hours so you only had to be in clinical one day a week rather than two days. This was first come first serve based on student interest. I hope this helped a little bit, I know it is all very confusing and overwhelming at times. Congratulations to all of you though and I wish you tons of luck on this journey!

I turned down my spot at NVCC so that opens up a spot for the wait list! I'm sure there are others doing the same! Hang in there everyone :)

Did you decide on a 4 year instead? Did you just call Noreen? Someone got that call today!!! That they are in wow

Whos number? Noreen's phone number is 203 575 8079 as far as the number they are on in the waitlist I wonder since yesterday was the deadline. Are you on the waitlist for NVCC?

nope just know someone got in that all so curious to where they are on the waitlist but since i called yesterday i think i need to give it at least a week

I decided on UCONN one year accelerated! Yes, I left Noreen a message declining after I got the email reminding me to accept my spot! Relatively sure the waitlist will work into the 30s this year. I had a handful of friends all apply and turn down spots at NVCC!

Thank you for telling us you don't know what it means to us waitlisters on the edge of our seats!

Good luck at UCONN! I did the same thing a couple of years ago (though in my case I had to do UCONN's August review because of outstanding prereqs, so part of me thought I was crazy turning down a perfectly good seat at NVCC without a sure thing at UCONN). The accelerated program is an intense year, but so worth it!

Best of luck to those looking to fill seats from the waitlist! I've had several CC students following me at work during their clinicals in the past few weeks, and they've been very happy with the CC program.

Good luck at UCONN CEIN. Was thinking of doing it since it's down the road, but to many prereqs to bang out. Focusing on NVCC/NWCC again and WCSU this year. Next year will look into applying to the CEIN or SCSU if not accepted into a nursing program next year.
