CT-CCNP 2020/2021 APPLICATION

U.S.A. Connecticut

OK, let's get ready to rumble...

I'm applying to Gateway's program this coming fall.

A&P 1: A

Nursing GPA: will be about a 3.6 when I complete all the requirements. I took all the co-requisites or they transferred from my previous degrees. I have two B+'s and one C and I don't think it's financially wise to re-take them, because Gateway said they will take the average of the two grades and that won't bump me up too much, so it is what it is.

TEAS to be taken Oct 2020. Goal score 80 or better, hopefully I will only take it once.

They said at orientation they have 96 seats and get close to 1000 applicants ?

Nursing will be a 2nd career for me. I know they look at my whole educational background, and I have a 3.388 (cum laude) for my BS and a 3.504 for my MA. No F's but I have two C's and one D+ in there. Hoping they see these grades were earned almost 20 years ago and don't count it against me too much.

Study hard and good luck everyone!

I don't have a back-up plan right now but I want to start brainstorming something not too expensive or time-consuming if I don't make it.

I emailed my prenursing advisor at NCC again to see if students are being advised to sign up for the remote proctoring at home as of right now. She kept telling me to look for CT specific dates, but those don't exist and I'm getting antsy. I'll post here once I hear back.

Gateway starts adding them in August. They don’t release all at once but stagger them through the fall. I suspect the other community colleges do the same. Don’t stress, they just haven’t been released yet.

Thank you!

Update! I've been advised to move forward with remote proctoring.

By which school?

Bump....just checking in to see how everyone is doing. The application for Gateway opens up on the 1st.

I completed all coursework over the Summer and I have to take the TEAS exam. It's all remote proctoring due to COVID, I plan to take my first run in the beginning of Dec and if I'm not happy with the score I'll retake it one more time in the beginning of Jan. I think the national average is about a 65-75, not sure about the CCC average.

Now question for anyone that has applied in previous years, we have to submit all transcripts from all previously attended universities...Gateway already has all my transcripts except for one I think, that I requested as a part of my initial admissions. Is that sufficient for the nursing program or do I need to request another transcript directly to the nursing program dept?

With that said, has anyone had to transfer a foreign transcript as a part of the application? I have one I need to transfer (anglophone university), and I have a feeling they're going to be difficult when I request a transfer.

I am not sure how the transcripts situation works, but you could email someone in admissions or nursing dept. to see. I’m applying this round too. Good luck!

I have a 3.37 nursing GPA and all A’s and B’s except for my math. I took intermediate algebra 3 times and never got above a D, I took intro to stats and got a C+. If I could pull an A in stats that would bring me to a 3.55. But this would also be an accelerated 2 week Winter class...

should I bother?

Depends, do you feel confident in your experience last semester that you can pull an A during a 2 week intensive session class? Will it be online or in-person?

I decided against it. It would be online; everything is online currently. Thanks for responding though

Just applied to gateway new haven. I’m an LPN and hope to bridge. 3.67 GPA. Only class left is Micro and I start that this Spring. Very nervous
