I think they sign u up for the class when you are cleared for all your prerequisites for the semester and you've met with an adviser.

We have a contract with Pearson publishing where all our textbooks are through the school bookstore and rolled into our tuition/fees. It comes with a web contract too so I don't think there's any way to get around that or get it for cheaper.

I like it, I think the curriculum isn't that difficult but the NCLEX style questions on our exams can be tricky to understand. Don't forget though, out of all those applicants, some don't meet the qualifications to be accepted, some change their mind and don't want to go into nursing, some get accepted at other schools and don't accept the admission offer, some have financial/medical problems and defer or decide not to attend, some have A&P 2 in progress and don't meet the minimum pass score, some that are admitted don't get all the paperwork they need to begin classes on time, etc. I don't know what the lowest % rank is but I know people have been wait-listed and still got accepted from spots in the 20's and 30s.

I applied last year I got right into Gateway. That was my first time applying and my only school LOL. My rank was 93% but I was still worried because they can get over 1000 applicants for only 96 spots. Last year was supposedly the most competitive year for the CC programs.

did you attend an info session at your school of choice? They told us that during the info session. It makes sense because you can't have people transferring in 90% of their credits and then they only count 1 or 2 classes towards GPA. Some people apply to the program and have taken all their classes elsewhere and the CC are just a backup plan.

I counted an elective when I calculated my nursing GPA but it was only 3 credits and really didn't make much of a difference. Yes, they will calculate your nursing GPA with transfer credits, the college itself doesn't do this on your transcripts but during the nursing program application they will. I had one C from almost 20 years ago I transferred over and it was included.

Nursing GPA includes every course you have on your transcript, both prerequisite and corequisite courses, even transfer credits, they'll calculate into your nursing GPA. I'm not certain but I think they take the elective with the highest grade.

No, there are a total of 96 spots in the program, and some of the accepted students aren't meeting the pre-program requirements for fall semester during the allotted time period, so those students that don't meet the requirements are having their seats revoked and they will be calling more people off the waitlist. There was a mandatory orientation webex meeting last night and there were suppose to be 96 of us and there definitely weren't 96 students present during roll call... If you are accepted or get called off the waitlist...please complete everything that needs to be completed during the appropriate time window.

Also, for anyone that's on the wait list preparing to be called off and start in the fall, be prepared to spend at least $500 for all the pre-semester testing and uniform/equipment requirements, on top of tuition, fees, and books.

We had our Gateway orientation tonight, she said there were over 400 applicants and they've started calling people off the wait list to fill the 96 spots. A lot of people still didn't complete the background/toxicology paperwork yet so they may be calling off even more people soon.

For reference, my stats were: A&P1: A TEAS: 88 Nursing GPA: 3.6something, depending on what stats course they used and whether they included an elective in the calculation. This will be a 2nd career for me I already have a bachelors and masters so I will probably only need the core nursing courses. After that I want to complete the BSN online at Southern and hopefully I can re-use some of my credits from my former degrees.

Yes I applied too. I made another thread about the applications on this site. We should hear by the 9th, I've heard it's always on a Friday. Not sure how many people applied this year.
