Hi all,
Looking to apply this month for Summer 2020! Anyone else on the same boat? I am currently taking my last class so I expect to update my transcript when grades are posted mid-Decemeber. Anyone from previous cohorts had an issue with this?
I'm a little anxious about my points- I'm in the low 30s but hopefully it will be less competitive in Summer/fall!

(I applied for Fall, was originally admitted for Spring 2021 since they pushed it back because of Covid). It's great that the first semester is just 2 classes and all virtual. Did you guys already have orientation or when is that scheduled? Do you know what time the online classes are? I don't have much info yet as they just told me yesterday.
Hello and Welcome! I take it that you are in Cohort 37?
There is an online orientation that you need to complete on your own. You must set up access to your CSUSM email and Cougar Courses to access the orientation.
There is a mandatory online orientation via zoom on August 28.
Do hurry and become Compolio Compliant as soon as possible. Some of the steps take time.
There is a facebook page for set up for our cohort titled “CSUSM ABSN Cohort 37”

Thank you! And yes, cohort 37. I'm working on my Complio requirements now.
Hi! I have been accepted into cohort 38, I was curious on how this incoming cohort is set to start for Fall.. Are the courses hybrid or fully online? If so, is it set as specific class times via zoom?
Thanks in advance for the info! Just want to get an idea if maybe Spring 2021 will be similar. ?
The classes are all online for Fall (cohort 37). There are 2-3 classes depending on if you have credit for Nutrition already. I think Nutrition is at a real time each week. The two others are asynchronous. I’m not sure at all what Spring will be like, but I’m guessing a hybrid of online and in person.
Hi! I will be starting in the Spring, but I wanted to know if there was anyone from Fall 2020 that would give some feedback on how it has been so far with classes online. We haven't heard much so far about how it will be exactly, but I know that our classes will be online for next semester.

Hi congrats! We have only taken the humanities courses so far so it’s been a lot of self study. I’m not taking the nutrition course so I can’t speak for how that’s going, but it’s a lot of reading with forum posts since its asynchronous. For me it’s been a lot of time management and preparing for upcoming assignments since I’m still working this semester too

Thanks for for the response! So no zoom classes then I’m assuming? I’m guessing that is how ours will most likely be too, but we haven’t heard much about that yet. So not too bad then for distance learning the first semester hopefully?

Hi, we are currently taking Anthropology and Bioethics courses, which are asynchronous, so no Zoom sessions. Sometimes Bioethics Professor conducts exam consultations through Zoom. But that’s about it. I have heard that Nutrition is synchronous, meaning the instructor and students meet weekly around the same time. I’m not sure if it is held through zoom though.
Both courses are reading heavy, but doable. Overall, I personally enjoy the first semester, although it is fully online.

Hey guys,
I got accepted to the Summer 2021 term and I was wondering if anyone from the Summer 2020 term could answer some questions that I have ?
-First, where are the clinicals located? Curious because I'm moving from LA and trying to decide where to live depending on the commute.
-Second, does every student do clinicals at the same location?
Thanks in advance!!?
I'm curious how people found the 2nd semester (NURS 300, 301, etc) - I'm completely stressing myself out and find myself crying all the time. This has never been me. I am a stressed out test taker sometimes, but I study hard and don't know if I am just psyching myself out and need to figure out how to learn to deal with this stress (anxiety?) so I can concentrate on studying. I'm so confused with the Elsevier program and worried about the exams. I feel like we're just getting started and I am completely overwhelmed. Is this completely normal? I'm hoping after the first few tests, I will calm down and realize that I've wanted to be a nurse for a long time and that I can handle this program. I also feel like I started this week knowing very little about nursing (BP, etc) and that some have been CNAs, etc so they're not completely lost like I'm feeling. I'm sure it's normal to feel a little overwhelmed and stressed out, but I'm literally crying all day every day. Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks!
