CSUSM ABSN Spring 2012

Published

Has anyone applied for spring 2012 ABSN program at CSU San Marcos? I applied back in june and now that I have seen the average scores for the Fall 2011 program I am in a state of panic. Sure I meet the average for the other cohorts, but I am definately at the low end of the fall 2011.

I just wanted to know if anyone had applied for the spring 2012 ABSN program and how do you feel about your chances.

Aww well chem is hard ! That's why we're trying to do nursing and not pharmacy lol :)

I'm wondering if my situation is gonna be different from yours since micro is listed as a pre nursing core class and your gen chem would've just been a pre-req for o-chem which is what is listed for the pre-nursing core .

For those of you who got accepted: If u don't mind me asking .. would you be able to give is a ball park estimate on your teas acore and gpa for the core and last 60 . I just wanna see if I have a chance at getting in this January !! Thanks guys !!

@USMC: Here's what I think EL used to calculate my points. Pre-nursing GPA: 3.7ish - TEAS: 87.5ish - Last 60 credits: 3.95ish. I'm estimating my total point value was about 40. (This is totally a guesstimate b/c it really depends on how they calculate the GPA's.) Hope this helps! And I hope you get in!!! :)

thank you amyca! hope to hear from them soon.. and I wish their gpa calculator was posted on the website too! haha I've just been using a generic gpa calc I found on google!

Alright got it all figured out and sent in my deposit! Going to the San Marcos campus! Thank goodness i dont have add an extra 30 minutes to my commute to get to Temecula!! :D yay! good luck to you all and hopefully ill see you in Jan!

hey if this is a second post of the same question i apologize. ... my original post isn't registering on this forum.

anyway, i'm curious as to how everyone is paying for the program?!

- loans? if so, what type? (federal/private)

- working? if so, how many hours? where?

- living costs? (are you living alone? with spouse? family?)

unfortunately i'm an a huge financial pickle (completely unexpected), but i REALLY want to attend the program.

any and ALL advice is GREATLY appreciated.

i hope to hear from someone...

I've been conditionally admitted for the Temecula campus. I've read that it's possible to work part-time during the 1st semester so I'd like to do that. I live in LA right now so I think I should look for a place to rent near campus. If anyone else gets into Temecula and would like to find a place with me, let me know!

Someone in an earlier post asked if we got an acceptance email or letter. I got an email today saying I've been conditionally admitted

I received my conditional acceptance email last night for the San Marcos campus for Spring. I could not be any more excited! I sent in my intent to enroll and paid the deposit. Hopefully more information will come soon :)

jzydijy--> I also got into the Temecula campus for spring 2012. I'm currently looking for a place and a possible roommate. What sites have you been using to find housing?

Hi all,

I am new here and your posts have really been helpful. i have a question: i have a masters in health care administration and and bachelor in business. Are they gonna take the last 60 units of my masters or bachelors. I am trying to calculate my gpa too. And did you guys take TEAS V? please let me know.....i am shooting at the fall 2012 cohort coz i still have organic chem to take....

Sashapatra you should email CSUSM Extended Learning with your question about units. I took TEAS V at San Marcos

Sashapatra, from what I understand they look at your last 60 units. If you've taken any classes at the CC since your master's, then they will count. Last 60 units literally refers to the last 60 units of coursework you've done. So if your master's courses were the last you've taken, then that's what they will calculate. For the TEAS I recommend the ATI study manual. The practice tests are identical in format to the real exam. If you go through the manual, then you should be fine. For the TEAS you'll have to create an account online with ATI Testing. Once you take the exam (if you take it somewhere else other than CSUSM) your score will be available for you to access online. You will email extended learning your pdf file (score results) and they will automatically update your application. You don't need to purchase the transcript from ATI. Good Luck!

I also have a question. Has anyone looked into housing in the Temecula area? They're a lot of people renting empty rooms in their homes. Has anyone gotten housing this way? Is it safe?

Luvchristmas, I'm wondering the same thing about renting out a room in a home. I've been looking on Craigslist. I'd prefer to live with females only and month-to-month rent. Kinda hard to find...
