Hi everyone! I've been following a lot of the previous threads for CSUSM's ABSN program. I'm finally ready to apply for the Fall 2019 semester, so I figured I should start this thread and talk to the rest of you who are in the same boat! :) I currently just have to take the TEAS, which I'm signed up to take next week! Has anyone already submitted their apps yet?

Worth thinking about rolling over to Spring 2020? Thanks!
If you start in either Summer or Fall, your lecture and lab days are at the Temecula campus. That will be 1-2 days per week, depending on the what semester you're in and at what point in the semester you're in. If you start during spring, you'll be at the San Marcos campus for lecture and lab. Review the School of Nursing website for average admission points, because the spring semester is the most competitive to get into.
As far as clinical placements, regardless of whether you're assigned to the San Marcos or Temecula campus, you can potentially get a clinical assignment anywhere in San Diego County or Riverside County; however, they generally try to place students from the Temecula campus in more Riverside County placements and those at the San Marcos campus in San Diego County placements. I'm at the Temecula campus and I've had clinical sites both in Riverside County and San Diego County. We have many students in my cohort who commute to the Temecula campus from San Diego.
@WAboundSNOk, thanks! That’s helpful. I wonder why they won’t take geographical preference into account at all for clinical placements. Seem lime if someone from SD county was placed closer to Riverside and vice versa, it’s a little bit inefficient and sucks for both of those people.

Yes, I agree it's not the most convenient for the student. My guess is because the program is huge, it has over 400 students in 7 different cohorts at any one time, so to look at who lives where and find a clinical placement convenient for them for over 400 people is not realistic.
Hi all! Just wanted to chime in and say I just submitted my application this morning. Hard to believe that there are no recommendations or personal statements required. I'm currently waitlisted for the UCLA MECN program but pretty far down on the list, so if this program gives me the opportunity to start this year I would happily take it, even though that would likely mean a move down to San Diego or Riverside County. Good luck to all those applying!

Yes you can. The only thing you must have is your TEAS score or else you won’t be able to submit the application officially. They’ll then be able to complete a points evaluation for you but they will not consider you for admission until your transcript from the last prerequisite is in. However, if you’ve taken your TEAS I recommend applying. That way when you do finish your last class they’ll just need to do a quick points update and then you can officially be in the pool for consideration.
