Hi Everyone! I was searching around and couldn't seem to find a thread for the spring and fall 2016 ABSN program at CSUN. Hopefully we can use this thread to talk to and support each other as we go on this crazy journey
Thanks for the info Manny! Yeah I ran into some problems with Assist.org - mainly my undergrad university wasn't listed - I think I got it figured out, if it's meant to be with CSUN then it will be. The price of this program makes the tedious application cycle worth it - wish they would get on that NursingCas level! Good luck!
As to the EMT and LVN experience you might be able to do an LVN-RN bridge program, but at least this way you get the BSN. I think that CSUN looks highly on experience like EMT or LVN, if anything it can't hurt!
I have applied for CSUN ABSN 16' and haven't heard anything. I keep checking my portal for any news but all it says is transcripts missing even though I have called a bunch of times to make sure they received them! So frustrating. I read that the people last year were notified sometime in march?
Hello~ I also applied for the summer/fall 2016 ABSN term. When I check the portal site, it says that I am missing immunization records. Does anyone else have that as well? I didn't know we were supposed to send them in. Hope to hear from the school soon as I know this is a great program!
Hello everyone [emoji4]. I'm one of the class representatives for cohort 17. I started the program in August. I found out about my acceptance around April 4th. I also wanted to let you know that one of my classmates had experience as an EMT so that is definitely an advantage [emoji106]ðŸ¼and we have about 3 people who have experience as CNAs.
A little bit about my background: Psych degree from CSUN, 3.9 pre reqs, 3.8 overall, volunteer experience at Providence Saint Joseph's Medical Center, and internship at Glendale Adventist.
If anyone has any other questions I would be happy to answer them although I know we have another person from cohort 16 on here as well [emoji106]🼠[emoji4] I will check back on here from time to time. Happy holidays!
Did you all receive information on how to access the portal via email or snail mail? I haven't received anything besides the email that stated my application was received!
the departmental acceptance is different from acceptance to the university itself. The nursing dept notified us via email last year, around the last week of March. Some people got their acceptances later, in fact others in the summer cohort were accepted later after orientation! So yes, they do send out acceptances in waves.

Please do solve it if you can. Immunizations | California State University, Northridge
Click on proof of immunization and there's an email address; however, you may need a student ID.
I wouldn't be too concerned at this point, because the portal is for university not the nursing dept and as I said acceptance is different between the dept of university.
@ElizabethH736 Thanks for posting too!
I'll make mine's a little detailed. for my stats, my undergrad GPA was a 3.5 from a top 25 university prereqs all A's except, repeated chem lecture, B+ chem lab. No EMT or CNA experience, I did have volunteering experience working directly with nurses at UCLA, community health volunteering. I also had shadowing experience. I had recs from 2 RNs and a microbiology professor. If possible, I'd say it's great to get CNA license.
Starting from next semester, I'll also be an officer of National Student Nurses Association. We participate in community health, fundraising, and we also have a mentorship program where we'll match you with someone in a cohort or two above. Last year, we had a textbook sale and presented at orientation to the incoming nursing students. I urge you all to join if you attend CSUN!
Good luck!
