  1. So I submitted all of my official transcripts with my application packet. As someone else mentioned there was a confirmation email that was sent after doing the csu graduate application online that mentioned it - I did not see it and therefore did not send two sets of transcripts. However I noticed that they had only received one of my transcripts when I checked portal earlier this month - I figured they were still checking the rest. But yesterday when they still didn't have record of the other four transcripts I called admissions and they said I needed t send them the transcripts directly, and that I wouldn't be penalized for being late - although I believe now my application will be set back because the graduate program sends the school of nursing your application once they say you meet the minimum requirements. It's all very complicated and I just wish it had been more clear. Hopefully this helps anyone who might find themselves in a similar predicament
  2. So, I might be blind or just got confused but I had no idea we were supposed to send two sets of transcripts: 1 tot he department and 1 to the admissions. I finally was able to call admissions and to my horror they have none of my transcripts. We all know how many hoops there are to jump through to get into these programs but I never saw anything that said to send two sets of transcripts. Was everyone else aware of this, or did something weird happen to my application?
  3. I was able to find it, so it shouldn't be hidden I think I specified a group search though
  4. That's sounds awesome! Thanks Brit! If you need any help I'm more than happy to assist!
  5. I think that for our specific cohort we have to create a Facebook page
  6. Yes I am also interested in the fb group!
  7. Awesome info! I spent 7 years in San Francisco so sadly 1400 for a 2 bdrm is cheap for me :) But paying that while in school and not working will be hard! Did you find that there was any time to work? I'm hoping to get a serving job and just do 1-2 shifts a week to make some extra cash but I've heard that its crazy to try and work. Thanks again for the help! So appreciated!
  8. Thanks Mindylane! A couple quick questions - where did you move from to go to GW? Were you accepted at other programs as well? Did you have any problems finding housing/roommates? Also, did you find you were prepared for the NKLEX? It's awesome that former students like yourself make themselves available like this for eager new students can get advice, your help is so appreciated!
  9. Yeah mine is the 20th also! I'm a little concerned, another applicant on a different forum said the job isn't guaranteed at the end of the program but you get an interview - I guess we will learn more at the interview! I'm trying to stay optimistic, GW is a great school and honestly all of the programs I'm applying for except csun in SoCal are pretty expensive. Where will you be coming from? I'm currently in Northern California
  10. Thanks for the info Manny! Yeah I ran into some problems with Assist.org - mainly my undergrad university wasn't listed - I think I got it figured out, if it's meant to be with CSUN then it will be. The price of this program makes the tedious application cycle worth it - wish they would get on that NursingCas level! Good luck! As to the EMT and LVN experience you might be able to do an LVN-RN bridge program, but at least this way you get the BSN. I think that CSUN looks highly on experience like EMT or LVN, if anything it can't hurt!
  11. Also, question Nurse_EPLFan: Did they say when they make the decisions for the W2 program selections? Also, if you did get offered a spot in the program do you think you would take it? When you think about $28.5K off your tuition and making $10K less a year for three years it sort of evens out - at least that's how I'm looking at it, trying to focus on the positives I guess :) Thanks again for the recon work!
  12. I'm waiting for a couple closer programs but if I get the w2 i might be strongly inclined :) are you applying for the w2?
  13. Thanks for all the info - a little disappointing to hear the w2 interview doesn't promise a job. I suppose I would be willing to sacrifice the extra annual income if it meant less debt and many of the schools I'm waiting to hear back from are similar in cost maybe 10k less but still my second bachelors will put me in debt no matter what I do I've just come to accept that. I already got my plane ticket out to dc for my interview in February and even if it is an expensive interview at least I get to visit dc and see the Virginia campus. From what my friends say the first 2 or 3 years can be done where ever you get hired then you can go where you want.
  14. HI! I also was accepted last week to the fall 2016 absn cohort at GWU! I'm super excited and didn't think I would get in! Do you think you will for sure be going their in the fall?
  15. Hi all! Thanks for the info! I also applied to the CSUN absn, haven't heard anything except some problems with my critical thinking pre-req that they may not except and they have mislabeled my transcripts and are apparently missing one - very stressful and frustrating - I really would like to attend CSUN, the cost is very appealing and the move from Norcal wouldn't be hard. My GPA isn't great but I has a Nursing Assistant for three years at a senior home so I hope that helps! Does anyone know when we will start to hear back about acceptance?
