Hi!
I think the CSULB School of nursing recently post new pool statistics including those who were chosen for Fall 2011.

Knowing that the rating average is 8.91/10, that seems like a huge difference than the previous semesters!
Anyone else planning to apply to CSULB Fall 2012 BSN program?
I think that the recent posts seem negative because non-csulb students are taking what me or Clueless said the wrong way. I will speak for myself, I never said anything negative towards transfer students. I believe that a 4.0 transfer student from a CC is just as worthy as a 4.0 CSULB student. And I would want a 4.0 transfer student in my class over a 3.5 CSULB student. I am sorry if what I said was offensive, the Internet is hard to interpret how people mean to say things (I'm sure darkbluephoenix understands). but aside from that, I'd like to keep this thread focused on news about admissions. Interviews are coming up and that's what we all should be focused on. :)
I didnt think what you said was negative at all.
You are like the most non-negative person I have seen on these boards! LOL
And that is coming from negative nelly over here (ie. me)
Anyway, you are right we should be focusing on the interview next week. Not this crap.
But I believe that some of us have become a little antsy and stressed, probably because of the upcoming interview Those of you with really good scores and interview invites dont have to worry (but you will anyway) but not like those of us that barely made the interview at all!
Lets keep trucking guys!
I'm not trying to fight or belittle anyone's accomplishment. I know it's hard to get into nursing classes everywhere and the difficulty of each course will vary depending on your teacher. I also never said transfers were incompetent and wouldn't do well in nursing classes.
But incontrovertibly, if you were in place as a CSULB student, I'm sure you'd easily understand why I'm frustrated, angry, and disappointed.
Sorry if you guys took what I said as an attack to transfers and second-degree seekers. I don't think I'm a negative person. I think I'm realistic and base every thing on past numbers and statistics. And if there is nothing else we can't agree on, I think we can all agree on that the numbers don't lie.
On a lighter note, if you guys didn't know already, there were 102 interview invites which means the alternate list is about less than 12-15 students or they're cutting back on accepted applicants.
My score is cutoff. They still rank the students, sometimes before or after the interview. I am grateful I got an interview but it still doesnt change the ranking. Whether they accept less alternates or less students for the cohort, I still have the lowest score; and therefore inevitably an alternate. I am a call it like it is person, a realist. I dont get my hopes up for stuff that I already know wont happen. BUT if, I get accepted then you can say I told you so! But dont count on it!
***And lets not forget that I am denied to the university, and if I am correct, they have the ultimate decision. Even on the off chance I was accepted, then the university can still put their foot down and say 'no'. I emailed the program reminding them of my admissions issue and the asst. director of admissions still hasnt called me back. I assume (and I know what they say about assumers) that they will not do anything with admissions unless your competitive enough to get in. If I am an alternate they still wont do anything with admissions until a spot opens up if I am high on that list. Since my score is most likely the cut off score, I am pretty sure I a going to be a low alternate if that.
Anyone thought of this yet? It is positive :)
There is a slight and I mean SLIGHT chance of the second degree bachelor people going to other programs. IF they apply to other programs, mostly ABSN or EL-MSN programs at other schools, I would assume they would attend those, if accepted. Reason being is that the BSN program at CSULB is still 2-3 years. IF they get into and ABSN program, that is only a year. IF they get into EL-MSN programs, they come out with a higher degree. Chances are they would take those other programs over CSULB's BSN program.
That would hopefully cut the list a little bit, since the census from Clueless is that mostly second degree bachelors people and transfers make up the CSULB cohorts mostly.
Just thought I would share
Whoa whoa whoaaaaa this forum totally changed 360 over the course of a day!!!
I think there's a lot of miscommunication going on here. Regardless, we should still try to be supportive of one another as we each have had our own struggles. I've seen forums like these serve as such a great source for support, advice, optimism and also venting. We come here to share in our victories and our losses. Let's not let that get away.
