Hi!
I think the CSULB School of nursing recently post new pool statistics including those who were chosen for Fall 2011.

Knowing that the rating average is 8.91/10, that seems like a huge difference than the previous semesters!
Anyone else planning to apply to CSULB Fall 2012 BSN program?
ms.chia are you referring to the number of people being selected?
@Victor: Oh no! I have no idea about the number except that they were planning to reduce the amount of people as well. I was referring to the earlier posts on csulb vs. transfer vs. 2nd bacc. students as I haven't looked at the forum for a day now and seemed like there was a little bit of animosity...
That is exactly why I am screwed! These budget cuts are really screwing us out of our dreams!
If what we all know/heard is correct then those of us with low scores will become alternates, and not high on the list. Hopefully a lot of students plan to go somewhere else (not likey).
From my research, this is how CSULB does it (which explains why I know I am an alternate!)
CSULB has to figure out how many they can accept, in this case, 68.
Then they figure a good amount of alternates, in this case 35. Honestly, I dont know why so many. Like ST said, that is over half of the accepted. I would make an alternates list of like 15 max to be honest...
Then they sort who isn't qualified or ineligible. They take them out of the ranking.
Then they rank everyone. They put everyone on an excel spreadsheet and their scores give them a number. I am assuming number one is the highest score, down to, in this case, 68. Those are the accepted, well provisionally, they just have to 'pass' the interview.
They add 35 to 68 to make the rumored 102. Then they go ok those are the ones to interview.
So basically from my knowledge, that is how they do it. So basically, they know who they are accepting and who is an alternate. The interview is, as we know, to make sure you know English, follow directions, aren't antisocial, SHOW UP....stuff like that....
As I said, I am screwed either way. Oh well. See ya at the interview!
Your telling me!
I dont know, it may not be a bad thing that I wont get in. I live like 45 mins away and I am unable to move. I also have to work at least two days a week (24 hours/week) to make ends meet.
Eh oh well. We will see. I wouldn't be surprised if it was 68 people though. I mean, normally for that big of a cut I would have heard CSU budget issues on the news or something. I haven't heard anything. At least they aren't restricting transfers like earlier semesters! How typical is it the semester we apply and this happens to us!
It'll definitely be tough for you with the long drive and having to work during nursing school, but just think how achieved you will feel at the end! I'm pretty sure we will all meet close friends in the program who will share our happiness, tears, stress, and everything else we will experience throughout our journey! It won't be like school now, where you meet a few acquaintances and forget about them the next class. We will be spending 2-3 years with the same people!
And that is what makes me keep my hope that I get in! How long we have been on this forum, informing each other, I feel like acquaintances already! Ya know? It would be too bad going through this together and and one of us not being able to move on with the other.
Part of me knows I wont be accepted, interview or not.
But, another part of me wants it so badly. Who will win?
Ugh so stressful.
