Hi!
I think the CSULB School of nursing recently post new pool statistics including those who were chosen for Fall 2011.

Knowing that the rating average is 8.91/10, that seems like a huge difference than the previous semesters!
Anyone else planning to apply to CSULB Fall 2012 BSN program?
I hope so too and was about to mention that. I have never seen them not take around 90 students. I mean I heard they limited transfers and taken a little less than 90 but cutting down to 68! Even when the economy hit hard, it wasn't that low. I really hope the numbers are wrong, but knowing my luck, they aren't.
I am totally kicking myself in the ass for mentioning what I heard at the info session about them only admitting 68 students. Everyone is already on edge, there was no need for me to create additional stress. I'm hoping that I'm WRONG and that they are still taking 90 students this fall like they have in the past.
Victor: Dont beat yourself up, i perfer to know the truth then to speculate.
ST: I know! That is why it has to be untrue. Why cut that many students and then do 35 alternates. Come on! To get to alternate 35, over half of the accepted would have to drop out of the running. And trust me, that WILL NOT happen!
I really want to go back to the 90 accepted/110 interviewed.
****IF some one could just call today? THat would be great, I got class but I will try to call too. ML hasn't emailed me back yet and I am a little worried....it was a mistake or something.
Ok so I have been looking over spring 2012 thread and saw that they cut 12 people out of the acceptance. That means around 78 were admitted (why doesn't CSULB put the darn statistics up!).
Now I also saw that the highest alternate was like #28. I would say they did less than 30 alternates. The reason being is that I assume that the reason the alternate # was so high (especially for spring, I would expect a lot of people to drop their seat in fall, but NOT spring), because they originally picked 90 accepted and still interviewed the 110. THEN they get told they have to accept 12 less people then 90 because of the LBMH issue. OK so they drop to 78 acceptances and that turns the number of alternates from 20 to 32!
I have a feeling that if this cut is true that it wont be the only one. CSULB seems to have a habit of doing the interview and then making more cuts.
Reason I came to that conclusion is that in fall 2011, they interviewed the original 110 people for 90 spots, including transfers. I heard that AFTER the interviews that the school said they couldn't accept that many transfers and fought with them about it. All these poor high scoring transfers got cheated because they got to the interview process, with their 4.0s and still got denied admission.
Second example is that last spring, as I said, they did their original 110 interviews and then AFTER the interview they got the number accepted cut. AGAIN!
I am worried with this track record, that this isn't the worst cut that will happen yet.
I guess I will be wasting a drive to LB...
The day I arranged my interview time, Tues, I think:
I emailed her confirming my interview, date and time. Then I snuck the 'what is my score?' question. Then I reminded her that I was the one with the admissions issue. I bet that wont be sorted out, ever. She probably already knows whos accepted and who isn't by now. She figures I am too low on the alternates list to even be given a call to admissions about my status. That is all of what I am assuming, of course. Or she could be really busy?
At the bottom though (and this is my fault for being nice) I said that she can take her time and that she must be busy will all of us excited and anxious pre nursing students.
Something along those lines. She hasn't gotten back to me. I figure she wont. EVER.
I am not hopeful
EDIT: Why in Gods name, on the website they always say they accept 90 students for fall/spring!? That almost is NEVER the case anymore! What the Heck?
Sorry for my rant

Don't get down on yourself right now!!! Have you applied to other schools? The best is all you can do and your attitude is what you make it! They must have seen something in your application that made them want to at least give you an interview. I hope you don't decide to throw this opportunity away. Appeal to the CSULB admissions office. You'll drive yourself crazy being so negative. Chin up
Even in the worst budgets cuts, admission has never fell down to 68 students. I have heard nothing about budget cuts. I think it's safe to assume that the budget has stabilized and there won't be drastic cuts to the incoming nursing cohort.I really hope that number is wrong.
If the budget cuts are true, then that would really suck! There's nothing you (interviewers for spots) can do except your best when you get there. You can't assume anything from rumors or unconfirmed reliable sources. Might not be as extreme as "assumptions can kill you" (i.e. military, law enforcement) but so far I can see this driving applicants agitated. This does give me a different view of CSULB SON (at least eventually they do publish their statistics) interview/applicant process... and every year it seems more like this --->

Of course I applied to other places. But it just seems like getting in when I didn't have a chance would be like really awesome. But alas, it wont happen. I guess all I can do is try. I, of course, am going to the interview. Its like going to an interview for a job you applied for but didn't have the qualifications. You get an interview because HR needs people interview for their quota, but you know your not going to get it? Same thing here.
I will try to be positive, but hearing all this crap, and there must be some truth in it. Really can bring you down.
