CSULB Fall 2012 BSN

Published

Hi!

I think the CSULB School of nursing recently post new pool statistics including those who were chosen for Fall 2011.

Knowing that the rating average is 8.91/10, that seems like a huge difference than the previous semesters!

Anyone else planning to apply to CSULB Fall 2012 BSN program?

I wish that CSULB had like a message board or an update thing on their website. I think it would save the staff a lot of stress. Instead of 700 of us applicants all emailing and calling, they could just post up updates and such. Like 'sending out XXX interviews by email from Monday-Friday' or 'Expect letters to arrive in the week of xx/xx/12-xx/xx/12' Ya know? I think it that would be of help. Especially since everything on the handouts is all generic. Like 'we accepted 90 students every fall and spring.' Uh ya....ok.....

I dont know. Just though I would share that

:)

I got work tonight blah

I know it's been a tough couple days but everything is pretty much out of our hands so we should just try to stay calm for the interview and do our best! We won't really know for sure until the end of April anyway so why worry for over a month! Just make sure you keep all your options open :)

@DarkBluePhoenix- I agree. That would be so helpful and would relieved a lot of stress from unanswered questions.

Yes, not to mention the fact that if i don't find out until monday, i will have very little time to go out and buy nice clothes. lol, believe it or not, i've never had an interview and have no interview appropriate cothing. I have a physio test on tuesday and a research paper due, so i don't know when i will have time.

Lol, I know what you mean. I don't really dress up for special occassions often so I only have one pair of flats. And they are too small for my feet now so I have to buy new "nice shoes" or else I'd end up wearing TOMS. Good luck on your physio test and paper!

Is that you ST?

I know this is a dumb question, but speaking of the interview and attire, what does "business casual" mean in terms of clothing?

Nice shoes, slacks (no jeans!), nice dress shirt or even a plain polo would be okay.

This email came to me after making my peace with the fact that I didn't get in. So right now i'm more confused than excited, lol. I emailed her, but i will definitely call her monday. Maybe i'm too late anyway and they're only going to consider the people who called her on time. I did call her just in case she was still in, but no luck.

It's a little unfair that they gave just over a 4 hour calling period...The email says 10-5, but i got mine almost at 1pm according to my inbox. And they are for the 14th.

If this email was not a mistake, maybe it means that they are going to accept more students than they initially thought they would, which is good news for you guys.

@BeashsideNic have you heard anything about more emails going out. I was .02 points away from the cutoff score.

Good luck Lucy!! Totally unfair and strange they notified you so late but maybe they are giving you a chance, even if it's a small one.

Lucy- maybe they notified you so late because other people didn't RSVP in time and were giving you their spot. Otherwise idk how that could be fair...hopefully, you will still be able to go to the interview even though you didn't get to tell ML in time.

I'm working on finding an outfit for the interview as well. I'm planning on wearing slacks, a blouse with a blazer, and heels. I think the interviews are just to make sure we aren't weirdos and to make sure we can speak English well. I think they already know who is going to get in based on our ranking. The alternates are probably just in case some of the top 90 (or whatever the true number is) decline their acceptance into the program. I've been to one of the nursing sessions and was told they don't deny students based off of the interview. She said that if you have difficulties with English or communicating, then you might have to take an additional English class. Also, they are going to find out who is serious based off of who shows up and who doesn't. If we are lucky a lot of people won't show up lol...doubtful

As far as budget cuts, CSULB's website has posts about the funding. It said the 2012-2013 school year is going to have even more cuts if a tax thing doesn't pass...sounds like next spring will be worse off than fall 2012. =[

It's a little premature, but I've been looking into housing, etc and in case you didn't already know there is something called roommate finder. It gives you the option to search for a nursing student.

I think CSULB might also have a carpool program too for all of us commuters. Though, it would be cool to start a new thread or facebook page once official admission emails are sent out so the fall 2012 cohort can discuss orientation stuff, housing information, carpooling (especially with gas prices these days, yikes!), and other pertinent things.

Mari: I wish! I live over near Pasadena, talk about a commute!

Unless someone wants to carpool!

And good idea about the fb page. Definitely. Since we are interviewed all on one day, I wonder if we still have to wait until April to find out?
