CSULB-ELMSN Fall 2011

Published

Hey everyone so I have been waiting for a couple of years to finally have all of the pre-reqs done to be able to apply to nursing school. I am finally finished and am just waiting for CSULB-elmsn's program which will start in Fall 2011. I want to know who else is planning on applying so we can have each other to go through the process with and I'm not going to lie I would really like to see what the competition is like. Goodluck to everyone. I look forward to meeting you in the fall!

You two are making me so nervous!!! I only applied to Long Beach that being said I am a strong applicant but I am throwing all of my eggs in one basket. I do have a back up plan.. I applied to San Marcos ABSN program for spring 2011 and got accepted and so I explained to them my situation and they said that they would put my application back in for fall 2011. So it is not a guarantee that I will get accepted again for fall 2011 but there is a good chance. The San Marcos ABSN program is located in Temecula which is about an hour away from me without any traffic. WAy too far however at this point I will do anything just to be a nurse so if that is what I have to do I will do it. Good luck I pray we all get in. BTW what are your number 1 choices for school?

Sounds like a great back up plan to me! My first choice would have to be UCLA , however, it is a very difficult program to be accepted to. I honestly will go anywhere I am accepted. I mainly would love to get into a school offering a specialty in peds.

I have a friend who I have known since high school he got accepted into UCLA's program... He already has his BSN and has over 5 years experience working as a RN. I speak with him from time to time and every time he tells me how incredibly difficult UCLA's program is. He also works full time as a RN he is crazy!!! :) Anyway if you do get in let me know I will put you in touch with him he would be a great resource for you especially when it comes time to find a job!

Nice! Yeah, I have heard the program is very intense. UCLA is definitely a dream school for me- but its worth a shot applying!

UCLA is my first choice as well but really I just want to be accepted somewhere and become an RN. I'm trying not to drive myself crazy, but when I read about people with 3.9 overall GPAs and 4.0 Pre-reqs not getting in it freaks me out a little lol.

Sorry Malefocker, don't want to stress you out. I'm impressed that you can keep yourself so collected and focus your attention on your prime choice school!

Well my only saving grace was that I did well on the TEAS math exam which is what Long Beach looks at the most!

As a side note I got a response from Long Beach today I asked them if we need to send another set of transcripts with our nursing application and they wrote back that we are to send a set of transcripts to the university and not with our nursing application. I am guessing that since we have already sent a transcript to the university that we do not need to send another transcript. I remember us having a discussion about this very topic when this thread was first started!

Thanks for finding that out about the transcripts. Good to know.

You are correct regarding the transcripts. When I took the TEAS at Long Beach Monalisa was proctoring the exam. She confirmed with the EL-MSN people that we are only supposed to send transcripts to enrollment services. Enrollment services then scans them into CSULB's computer system and the nursing program will access them via computer.

What did you guys get on the TEAS? I'm wondering if I should retake it since Long Beach allows 2 attempts. I got an 87% - I was hoping to get in the 90's but it didn't happen.

CSULB uses a general "calculator" that takes into account your grades by subject and test score. I will try to find it or ask the nursing department.

I will also try to check on the transcript for you.
