Hey everyone so I have been waiting for a couple of years to finally have all of the pre-reqs done to be able to apply to nursing school. I am finally finished and am just waiting for CSULB-elmsn's program which will start in Fall 2011. I want to know who else is planning on applying so we can have each other to go through the process with and I'm not going to lie I would really like to see what the competition is like. Goodluck to everyone. I look forward to meeting you in the fall!
Definitely that is what I am doing I live in Irvine... I know there are some people on here who live in Mission Viejo which is like 45 min from CSULB. I have a friend who goes to UCLA for their FNP program and commutes over an hour it is definitely doable... if you are anywhere near Irvine I would love to find some people to carpool with!
During the information session they did say that some clinicals are 20-30 min south of CSULB and some are 20-30 min North... they did say they do their best to put you at the hospitals which are closest to where you live.
gracias, malefocker. wow, one hour. that's commitment. i know it's silly, but i'm worried that extra hour will be wasted when i could be doing other things (like studying my butt off). then again, one hour mindlessly web surfing doesn't worry me in comparison. in any case, the first four semesters sound INTENSE. gulp.
does anyone know anything about the sim lab at csulb? i toured fullerton and theirs was so nice--im wondering if long beach has a good one as well? i read on a long beach blog from 2009 that they were going to upgrade long beach's but dont know if this ever happened? just curious! and thanks again joe for being sooo helpful!
that's a good question Kendra. I was thinking about the same thing myself. I thought the upgrade in 2010 was for a new building, not specifically for a lab although that may be part of it. Maybe we'll get a tour at the orientation. Does anyone know how long the orientation will be? Just trying to decide if I should take a half or whole day off work.
Congrats to all those who got accepted!
I, like kendraharlow and ames, am wondering how the facilities are. I was told that the new building houses classrooms and offices. The labs are still in the older buildings. I might try to ask to see if we can get a tour earlier. I got accepted to CSUF and need to make a decision sooner than later.

question: do you guys think a thirty minute commute (one-way) is doable? i know it's not terrible, but i'm still kind of concerned...
