  1. Hey princesspea - I was wondering what happened to you. :) Orientation ends approx 4:00pm. I can't wait to meet everyone. I'll be wearing a silver & pink heart necklace.
  2. hi malefocker, At this time we only need to upload our driver's license. We are suppose to complete (as much as possible) all the other requirements and bring completed forms and copies with us to the orientation. Deadline to upload everything, including the health form, is Aug. 15th.
  3. Hi chaberae - first of all congratulations on getting into the program and your upcoming birth. From looking at the overall course program, the masters portion is just as intense as the first 16 months with 2-3 classes on a 4-6 week rotation. That being said, I think by that point we will be more used to the hectic pace. So it may be possible to work (at least part time) and complete the masters portion. At least I hope so because that is my plan. I only saved up enough money to not work for 18 months. I can't count on being able to get any or enough financial aid or student loan. Being the primary breadearner for my family, I'm nervous about quitting my job and becoming a full time student but I don't have any choice if I want to pass the program. Hopefully the job market will improve once we earn our RN license.
  4. Hi Pandora12 - I can't believe you answered a thread 2 years later. :) I am starting the ELMSN program this fall (very excited!!) and was looking for as much info as I can on the program. I hope you wouldn't mind answering a couple of questions I have... 1) do you think it's possible to work at least part time after the first 16 months, starting the masters portion? I have enough money saved to not work for at least 18 months. After that I'll be flat broke and don't want to totally depend on being able to get financial aid (ie loans) to get me through the last couple of years (my final goal is FNP). 2) did graduating from CSULB help you in job hunting in any way? I have a family to support so the financial part of quitting a steady job and going back to school full time weighs heavily in the back of my mind. Any info you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
  5. I think you have to bring the certificate of malpractice insurance to the orientation so I'll probably just buy it on June 8th and have it effective Aug. 8th. The school does offer health insurance with UnitedHealthcare. It's stated it in page 16 of student handbook. You can go to the student health website for more info http://www.csulb.edu/divisions/students/shs But you may want to look around on your own first for other health insurance to get the best rate.
  6. No I still haven't found it. I check it every day but it still states the requirement is complete and pending approval. Its possible the instructions are outdated and the website has changed a little. Trying to get all the other requirements done as well... I tried to buy the malpractice insurance but it stated that it can only start 60 days from purchase. So if I bought it today, the latest it can start would be July 12. The paper said to start it Aug 15th. I don't know if that really matters but I thought I would wait closer to June 10th to buy it. Hopefully it gives you the certificate as soon as you submit the payment online.
  7. The driver license requirement is in the tracker now. I uploaded my attachment and clicked "Save" but I did not see the "text answer requirement." (step 17-19 on the pre-orientation instructions paper). Hopefully I did it correctly. I guess I'll find out in a week or so.
  8. I think when I sent my email reply back to ......., she must have put my acceptance into the system. When I set up my log in to mycsulb, it said I had already accepted.
  9. Yes, I set up my account also. Out of curiosity, I looked at the Fall schedule of classes to see if I could match up some of the classes from the list on the SON website. A few classes matched up that states specifically for ELMSN students. Not sure if the days and times will stay the same. I couldn't see anything for Nutrition, Pharm and Patho. I decided to just wait and take these classes at LB. Does anyone have to take these classes too? Sooooo excited to start!
  10. hi princesspea - I doubt we will have class on Saturdays. I think clinics on Saturdays may be a possibility. I'm also trying to figure out schedules and finances once school starts. I had this crazy notion I may try to keep working part time at my current job while going to school. But I looked at the instructional schedule and it looks majorly intense...2-3 classes in a 4-6 week time span.
  11. Bamfmom - i just sent my declination email this morning so I hope you get my spot. Good luck to you!
  12. Eventhough the email did not state to reply, I sent a quick email anyway saying I was accepting. The email stated that the acceptance and contract packet was going to be mailed on May 15th. So I assume that is when you officially accept or decline.
  13. Congrats psych to nurse, siberiantiger and studentnursela! I was so surprised when I got an acceptance email today. I will probably turn it down to go to CSULB. It's closer to me and offer an FNP program which is my final goal. But after touring CSUF and meeting the staff, it was definitely a hard choice to make. Good luck to everyone wherever they end up. I'm sure CSUF cohort will be an awesome class!
  14. thanks kendra. I can't wait for orientation!!!! I'm still walking around with a big ole smile on my face.
  15. that's a good question Kendra. I was thinking about the same thing myself. I thought the upgrade in 2010 was for a new building, not specifically for a lab although that may be part of it. Maybe we'll get a tour at the orientation. Does anyone know how long the orientation will be? Just trying to decide if I should take a half or whole day off work.
