CSULB BSN Spring 2019

Published

Hello everyone, I was unable to find a thread with potential CSULB Spring transfers so I decided to start one. Hopefully, everyone is just as excited as I am :) I haven't taken the TEAS yet and I am currently wrapping up Micro. I plan on taking TEAS The end of may or early June and if I am unsatisfied with my results I will retake them in July. I would love to hear from other applicants! Good luck!!

I hve a question regarding the vaccines. If we dont have say the Hep B vaccine which is a 3 shot series over 6 months. Are we not allowed into the program until the 6 months?

It would delay your ability to participate in courses that have a clinical component (meaning you spend time at facility, like a hospital), but it should not affect your ability to attend non-clinical classes like pharmacology and pathophysiology or nutrition. It is unclear to me if NSRG-200 Foundations of Professional Nursing has a clinical component or not (I suspect it does not).

It is quite possible that the first semester of the program does not have any coursework that contains clinicals [perhaps a current student could verify that]. If our first semester is indeed clinical-free than I suspect SoN will grant you enough time to complete the Hep B vaccination series. I would start the series ASAP!

NRSG 200 does have a clinical component! For hep b, you would have to wait 6-8 weeks to get your titers drawn after getting the vaccination. I agree with PlanningFallacy and would start the series ASAP!

Do you guys know what we're supposed to do once our background check for CastleBranch is done? I know the email says the "Deadline November 21st," but are we supposed to send it to them or are we just waiting until further instruction?

My understanding is that the Nov. 21st deadline is for purchasing the background check and that the results will be sent to the school directly. Don't quote me on it though.

Does LB use ebooks or reg books ? I know some schools are digital and only use ebooks

To my CSULB students on this forum: were you able to declare your major? And were you able to enroll into your classes?

No to both. In the Student Center, clinking on the Open Enrollment Dates link just gives me an error message:

"You do not have access to enrollment at this time."

Also, did you mean to write "To my fellow CSULB students..." ? For a minute I thought you were SoN faculty trying to find out why her classes weren't getting enrollment. :D

haha yes, you're right! I was referring to the current CSULB students! I am a CSULB student myself, and I was wondering when we finally get to declare our major & enroll without any registration holds! Thanks for answering my questions!! I appreciate you!

Hi everyone! I just received an email from the SON stating that our orientation date is on Dec 15, 2018! There are more details on the document entailing other due dates (ex. medical documents, etc.), so you all can refer to them once you get it! Hope this helps!

Same. I didn't realize waitlisted people actually had to go to orientation. Guess I'll see you all there haha.

What number on the waitlist for you? I never received an email but I called and I was waitlist number 11.
