CSULB BSN Spring 2019

Published

Hello everyone, I was unable to find a thread with potential CSULB Spring transfers so I decided to start one. Hopefully, everyone is just as excited as I am :) I haven't taken the TEAS yet and I am currently wrapping up Micro. I plan on taking TEAS The end of may or early June and if I am unsatisfied with my results I will retake them in July. I would love to hear from other applicants! Good luck!!

Hi!! I'm also apply for Spring 2019 and I am really nervous about if I can get into the program since everyone said CSULB nursing program are really competitive. I currently finishing up my physio class and get ready for my TEAS test which is a week from now. I don't know if I will able to get a high score on the test. I will also tried to apply for adn programs but most of them require volunteer hours and I didn't do any of it. I hope to meet other applicants as well!!

Hi, I'm also interesting in CSULB for this semester. I'm a bit nervous as it's getting more and more competitive and I don't know if my scores are good enough. I took the teas already and finished all my pre-reqs. I'm just waiting now.

Hi everyone and welcome! Hopefully, we can use this space as a platform for encouragement and sharing good news *fingers crossed*!! I also finished my pre-reqs and will be taking my TEAS on the 18th of this month. I am not very prepared so I hope CSULB holds their TEAS in August so I may retake them if I am unhappy with my scores. So far my, without my TEAS, my stats are the following:

Science prerequisites GPA: 3.72 (3.72 points)

General GE prerequisites GPA: 3.54 (1.77 points)

TEAS Assessment Reading Score:

TEAS Assessment Overall Score:

*I will update on Wednesday with my scores. Good luck to everyone!

So I'm not sure what Chemistry course to use. I took Chemistry at UCI and they had a series and only the last part of the series had lab. (Chem 1A/B/C). The Chem1C had lab but I'm not sure because CSULB says they don't take retakes for the classes and each part of the series may be considered a retake? If I use the course with lab here are my stats.

Science Pre-Reqs : 3.86

General GE Pre-Reqs: (If they take AP courses over my actual classes) 4.00

TEAS Reading : 93.6%

Teas Overall: 95.3%

So my points for admission would be : 3.86 + 2 + 1.872 + 1.906 = 9.638.

For the TEAS, if you did well in anatomy/physiology and remember quite a bit about it then you shouldn't have any problems in that area. You only need basic basic knowledge of chemistry and everything else and even then I don't recall much questions that were course specific that was not explained in general bio or anatomy/physiology/microbiology. For Reading, I was never that good at it but if you just take your time and verify your answer with the passage along with rereading the question you should be fine. Math you should be fine if you've done algebra and remember it. English was the hard one for me because I was never drilled with proper grammar. If you used the mometrix ati test book, it really helped me along with the teas help app. (I had to pay for the app but for English especially it was superb)

Hi, my name is Matt. I'm from the fall 2018 cohort. With 9.6, you are actually considered high tier and you'll definitely land a spot in the program. You have nothing to worry about.

Thanks, that's good to hear. It's just so scary because California is so competitive and gets more competitive every year. Again thanks again it's so great to hear from others who went through the same thing we are now.

I think the cutoff for my cycle was around 9.3. And I don't want any of you to stress out about the communication exercise if you do get invited. It really was pretty easy. In order to screw that up, you would either need to be retarded or your english would have to be lousy.

I have a question, did you get accepted anywhere else? If so, what made you pick CSULB Nursing over others? I'm currently applying to Chico, Fresno, and LB. I've heard good things about Chico and that's one of my top choices due to the fact the cost of living there is lower for me whereas LB is definitely more expensive.

I applied to a total of 12 schools. Got accepted to CSUEB, SJSU, CSULA, SDSU, and CSULB. I chose CSULB just because it has been my dream school for a long time. I've pretty much lived in norcal my whole life so I wanted to go somewhere new. CSULB also has one of the highest NCLEX pass rates out of all the nursing schools. Rivaled by only sonoma, sacramento, san diego, and LA. And plus, the weather is really nice in the LBC.

Hello Everyone,

I plan to transfer at csulb this coming spring 2019 but I am also aware of the fact that the school is really impacted and very competitive to get in just like sdsu. Do you guys know any other nursing schools preferably those with spring application that I can look into and possibly apply?

I know California State University, Chico has a spring cycle but they're pretty competitive too :(
