CSULA Fall 2016 Nursing (BSN)

Updated:   Published

I realize it may be early, but I wanted to start a thread for the CSULA Fall 2016 nursing program hopefuls. I'm sure we will all have a lot of questions, especially because of the upcoming semester conversion. I have plenty of questions about application deadlines, volunteer hours, TEAS, etc. It will be nice to have a community where we can ask each other questions and offer advice. Eventually we can share stats, and we may even end up in the same cohort!

I listed Microbiology as my alternate and my friend did the same thing. She got rejected for Nursing BUT got in for Micro, it's all via email. I was wondering how come I didn't get anything if I'm actually in for Micro so that's how I came up with the conclusion that it's probably for nursing. Of course, I'm just guessing the GET admitted thing is for nursing but who knows. Like they said, admission to the university doesn't mean to the program.

CSULA requires us to enter an alternate major when submitting our application on CSUMentor. I only know this because an admissions rep told me when I called about a week ago. I could not even remember what I chose when he asked but apparently I chose Nutritional Science as an alternate major.

So I just called Admissions and was told that my application for nursing school was still being processed and I wouldn't know if I was in until later this month?! I'm hoping that's not true. He did say it's a good sign that my status says admitted.

Let's cross our fingers and hope you did make it to nursing, but how does your friend know she did not make it to nursing?

I was just told the same, except my status on GET is still incomplete.

She got an email at least 2 weeks ago that she got rejected for nursing but got accepted for micro! Yes I'm crossing my fingers for nursing forsure haha.

They really weren't prepared this year with the new system. I feel like this pool is very competitive this year everyone I seem to ask at CSULA says they have 27-26 points. Every year seems to get even more competitive. :(

What's so weird is that Fresno State, which is the other CSU I applied to, also used nursingcas for the first time for fall 16 didn't have any problems! I actually got an email yesterday to let me know to keep checking nursingcas for updates and then of course check my Fresno state email for the actual acceptance. Oh CSULA, get it together lol

Oh okay, thanks for sharing. Do you know how many points your friend had?

TIP to Transfers: Do not believe anything CSULA faculty says other than the School of Nursing. They do not know anything. That is why I kind of hate the school. Very messy when it comes to admision processes and overall as a school and how they function. They admit more students they can handle. All I can say is, just wait for that email from the scool of nursing. I will guarantee that it will come this week or next week.

Just talked to *******. She said that she's drowning in her work trying to get all the acceptance/rejection letters/emails sent by this week, but she can't promise that they will. She knows for sure that they will be sent this month.

Hopefully transfers aren't too burdened by the late emails especially if they have other choices and have to pay deposits soon
