CSULA Fall 2016 Nursing (BSN)

Updated:   Published

I realize it may be early, but I wanted to start a thread for the CSULA Fall 2016 nursing program hopefuls. I'm sure we will all have a lot of questions, especially because of the upcoming semester conversion. I have plenty of questions about application deadlines, volunteer hours, TEAS, etc. It will be nice to have a community where we can ask each other questions and offer advice. Eventually we can share stats, and we may even end up in the same cohort!

I applied to 7 nursing program :D

Did anyone apply somewhere else and have heard back? I have from at least 3 CC's but it's like..that's not what I want lol I want LA

Haha I only applied to CSULA and CSULB. We heard back from LB already; got accepted so I'm giving my spot away for CSULA.

I applied to CSULA and CSUSB :)

I'm waiting on my dreams schools, UCLA and UCI :nailbiting:

as well as CSULA, CSUSM, and PLNU (Got waitlisted because they prioritize PLNU students before transfers)

I wanted to go to UCLA too but transfer rate literally said "1" on one of the PDFS lol. But the main reason is because I don't have theit math pre req. They require like pre calc I think

1? lol. where did you see that?

Same! I initially aimed for the UC's but their prereqs are different for math and chem compared to CSU's and also their transfer rates are ridiculous. I did hear that CSU's are the best clinical-wise so I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing that for myself.

It was a PDF file I was researching into that I found on their Webste

I got accepted at CSULB too! I'm curious as to why are you picking LB over LA? I wouldn't know what to choose if I also got accepted at CSULA. Their NCLEX passing rate for 2014/2015 are pretty much the same so I am torn.

What I like about LB is the trimester although it's lottery, and as for LA, I like the short commute from where I live (~20 mins).

The passing rates are not the same considering only 64 CSULA students took it compared to LB 116 students. Also keep in mind if CSULA accepts about 70 students a year not everyone takes the test when you look at past numbers meaning many fall behind or drop out.

Plus I feel like Long beach has a much more consistant high pass rate then La

Haha me too, i had a really hard time deciding but i finally made my decision. CSULA is only a 7 min commute for me using Fasttrak in the morning. I picked CSULB over CSULA for multiple reasons:

1. Trimester. It isnt lottery. A lot more people want semester than trimester but if too many people want trimester, then they need to move some to semester.

2. I applied to LB my senior year in high school but I didn't make the cut since my GPA was at 3.3. Now that I have the chance to, I would love to attend LB even though it's a further commute.

3. I'm not attending CSULA because I feel like standards are too low there university wise. Not the nursing program. The nursing program is pretty much cmpetitive. But the school as a whOle has a 65% acceptance rate and I don't feel like it lives up to a "university"standard in my book. Parking is horrible as well. I am currently a student at CSULA and it would be nice to explore a whole another campus that's more competitive.

If you attend CSULB, we can always carpool, so LMK. :)
