CSULA Fall 2016 Nursing (BSN)

Updated:   Published

I realize it may be early, but I wanted to start a thread for the CSULA Fall 2016 nursing program hopefuls. I'm sure we will all have a lot of questions, especially because of the upcoming semester conversion. I have plenty of questions about application deadlines, volunteer hours, TEAS, etc. It will be nice to have a community where we can ask each other questions and offer advice. Eventually we can share stats, and we may even end up in the same cohort!

Has anyone heard from CSULA's admission office? Not the school of nursing. I emailed them about my application and no one has responded to me, but they received my transcripts and everything. I just do not know if I'm in the university.

I have a friend who did not get into the nursing program because she wasn't able to do her supplemental application but she got into her backup which is Microbiology (it's okay she wanted to change her major anyway lol) but we all got that email that since nursing is impacted, we won't get anything until April.

You're supposed to get accepted into the Nursing program first before the University sends you an acceptance email. It wouldn't make sense for admission to tell you that you got accepted into the university but not the SON. If you're applying to the regular BSN program as an undergrad/transfer, it will come in April.

Thanks all! I got super worried because on my student center it says that my admission status is incomplete.

My stats are 27 points! 3.9 prerq, 97-98 on readings and English, and 100+ hours in volunteering :)

What are you worried about? Haha. You're basically in! Plus I have 27 points and I'm giving up my spot. :)

I mean, the SON admission is what you should be worried about. Because if you get into the program, you basically made it into the university itself. CSULA has a very high acceptance rate and it isn't competitive. Almost anyone can get into CSULA. That's the downside that I see in it as a "university". Very low standards. But as for the SON, it's just as tough as any other to get into. So again, if you get an acceptance letter from the SON, you are accepted into the univerity. Acceptance letter won't be coming out until the first week of April or so.

Similar to SFSU! They have a high acceptance rate but their SON is ridiculously competitive. Thanks for the help!

Is LA your first choice? I'm so curious how many will decline their acceptance from LA if they got into other BSN programs.
