CSULA Fall 2016 Nursing (BSN)

Updated:   Published

I realize it may be early, but I wanted to start a thread for the CSULA Fall 2016 nursing program hopefuls. I'm sure we will all have a lot of questions, especially because of the upcoming semester conversion. I have plenty of questions about application deadlines, volunteer hours, TEAS, etc. It will be nice to have a community where we can ask each other questions and offer advice. Eventually we can share stats, and we may even end up in the same cohort!

To whoever said statistics and microbiology does not count in your pre req GPA, you were lied to.

This is what it says on the application in NursingCAS

"The prerequisite GPA is computed based on the following six prerequisite courses which must be completed by January 11, 2016 (CSULA students may finish Biology 200B by the end of Winter quarter 2016).

Chemistry 151, Biology 200A, Biology 200B, English 101, Oral Communication 150, General Education Critical Thinking Course or equivalent courses."

Unless they're lying to us, micro bio and stats shouldn't be included in the pre req gpa.

Also, do you guys know if the cumulative GPA that would be counted is the one on the transcript or the GPA after winter quarter finishes?

Pre-Req GPA: 3.82 (10 pts)

Overall GPA: 3.1+ (5 pts)

Volunteer Hours: 200 (2 pts)

TEAS V English: 99th percentile (5 pts)

TEAS V Reading: 77th percentile (3 pts)

25 points

Girlfrom304: 27

xMSLANG: 27

chmariee: 26

RachMayJ: 25

bgon: 25

nsc95: 24/25

patricialv: 24

I think you may have mistyped your overall gpa? ?

Stats and micro can be in progress in Spring, and acceptance letters are sent out before the end of that semester, so how can they be counted....

True, but I thought it was only micr that can be in progress

I have a question. On the CSULA SON website it says "Acceptanceletters will be mailed to the applicants using the self-addressed stamped envelopes provided by the applicant." Has anyone sent their self addressed stamped envelopes in and what specific address should we send them to?

I went to an info session at the school. I asked about the envelope. She said we didn't need it. They will inform us via email. So make sure your email is correct! ?

We need to mail in two set of official transcripts, one to NursingCAS and the other to CSULA Admissions. Has anyone mailed their transcript to CSULA and if so, when is the deadline?

NursingCAS app is due tonight, good luck!

Deadlines would be the same. Tonight.

If you just mailed the transcripts in less than a week ago and they do not receive it by tonight, your application probably will not make it to the SON.

We don't need to send a transcript to CSULA yet unless you have received a provisional acceptance e-mail (thru the calstate email) containing instructions about documents that you need to submit like transcripts, etc. so I don't think the deadline is tonight.

We will probably receive the provisional acceptance e-mails @ late March or early April since we applied to the BSN prorgam.

I actually have a question! I sent in my transcripts to NursingCAS in December and they actually emailed me that they received it but until now it's still not verified. Does that make any difference?

CSULA Admissions sent me an email requesting my transcript before February 15, 2016 ?
