Csula Fall 2014 applicants..

Published

I posted this in the California forum, but I think it got lost so I'm posting it here!

Who here is applying for the CSULA nursing program for Fall 2014? What are your stats? Have you taken the TEAS exam yet? I'm excited!

I have not taken the TEAS yet, but have my date scheduled for Oct. 25th.

I didn't get into the program yet. I was accepted into the university for my backup major. The wait continues...

What is your backup major?

It makes sense in a quarter system... It will be every interesting to see how they structure our semesters though... I can't see us taking 8 nursing courses at the same time. That's overkill. How can you focus on that many subjects and retain all the information?

I'm sure am glad I finished those other courses though.. I won't have to take them along with the gazillion nursing courses.

HI, congratulations to you. I am from the csula nursing and accepted last fall, i can understand your feeling now. Don't worry, most of the students are transferred from semester systems, so did I. I was worried about the quarter system and wondered how could I make it. But you will be fine and 99 percent ppl made it actually. Just enjoy your summer and you are ready to go!!

THANK YOU !!

I am glad you chimed in here. Can you please answer some questions us newbies may have about the program... I have one in particular..

Do ALL the teachers use the +/- grading? or do any give straight A or B grades? I hate the idea of getting an A- and lowering my GPA... :dead:

I heard that teachers can choose which scale to use, and they must post it in their syllabus... but I haven't heard if some teachers go with straight scale, or all use the +/- scale...

Chemistry, but I have no intention of attending for anything other than nursing.

Even though I have no intention of attending as a chem major, I still have to pay the $100 dollar deposit by May 1 to remain eligible for a spot in the nursing program should one become available. I suspect this will greatly increase my chances though as i'm sure many on the wait list won't want to cough up 100 bucks with no guarantees of getting a spot in the program.

Can we pay that online? How do we do it?

Lol good luck to you!!! I'm not paying it. I'm going to spend the next few months working as a CNA anyways...

Good luck to everyone!!!!!

Wow… they are on top of it…. I just got ANOTHER call from Jimdawg…. (name I have affectionately given him… )

This time he called to concerned about a message received from the Admissions Department. I had not yet payed my enrollment deposit…lol

He told me the site to make all online payments to the school, and I paid….lol

For those paying online, the "credit card" option is cheaper than the "electronic check" or "debit card" options…

lol… you'll save $2.10

Jenn, the deposit will be a deciding factor that may open the most wait list spots. People send in the acceptance responses when they are still undecided, just to keep a spot. When it comes to putting the money down, I think more of the poor people (like myself…lol ) will make final decisions.

But if you already made up your mind, thanks for starting the thread, and good luck to you next year. Getting the experience will boost your points… And it is great work experience.

I don't know about the CNA route. I am glad I chose EMT.

I think I learned A TON. I found that EMT's know/learn a lot more about emergency medicine and a wider variety of disorders. We don't have to care for the same patients for extended time; we get 10 new pts a day. And, we spend most of the time in the emergency room around all the other mayhem.

And here's the kicker…. no buttwiping… matter of fact. I used to love to tell the CNA's and Nurses to drain the colostomy / illiostomy / g-tube / catheter bags before I brought them into my ambulance, because I hated the idea…lol

I'm just holding of the wiping as long as possible…lol

That's why I'm headed to the anesthesia program ASAP…..

Aw..., well thanks for starting this epic thread!

Wish you the best Jenn =)

I find it insulting that you "used to love to tell the CNA's and Nurses to drain the colostomy / illiostomy / g-tube / catheter bags"
