I posted this in the California forum, but I think it got lost so I'm posting it here!
Who here is applying for the CSULA nursing program for Fall 2014? What are your stats? Have you taken the TEAS exam yet? I'm excited!
I have not taken the TEAS yet, but have my date scheduled for Oct. 25th.
I think if someone got rejected right away, it would mean that they either did not have at least a 3.00 GPA (pre-req & cumulative), got less than 40% on their national percentage for all their TEAS scores, and/or courses they though would transfer to the school actually doesn't transfer making their prereqs incomplete. I hope there is a good chance we get in since I believe that if people have 27/28/29 points, they would have been accepted many other places and some if not most would take an acceptance at another school. But, yes I believe there will be people who will miss the deadline. If CSULA was their first choice school, then they would not but many applicants apply other places too. Also, CSULA's admissions is not good with handling their paperwork. The school of nursing at CSULA notes the exact address when sending transcripts. If admissions receives transcripts but the school of nursing does not, it should affect their chances of getting in especially if those transcripts contain pre-req grades.

And yes, they def do not have a tradition way of handling their paperwork since I noticed they throw it in a drawer lol
Are you sure that all students with lowest scores got denial letters?? Did you talk to your friend?
I know for a fact that at least ONE did...lol
Yes, i've talked to her. When i ask her points she says she doesn't know, and that she never calculated it. (but i think she just doesn't want to tell me because everyone calculates it) I know she scored around 75-78% on her overall teas. And I know she got a B in physio and micro. And I KNOW she got a letter about a week before I posted the news....
That's all I know.
Here's the info from csulb i just posted in that thread. But you can see how competitive it is:
Just called... NOT ONE applicant w/ an in-progress class was admitted.
Lowest score accepted, 9.36
The lowest alternate has a 9.26.
She told me to apply for spring with micro complete and there is no way i will not be admitted, as i will then have a 9.62.
There were 604 applicants. This was the highest cutoff score they have had.
She assured me that the people starting in Spring semester finish only 12 weeks behing fall starters. And, because they are so backed up with paperwork at that time, graduation is held at the same time for both cohorts.
She also told me that the trimester program is easier to get into for Spring starters, because many fall starters opt out of the trimester (they want summer break)
She ended the conversation with, "Your scores are excellent; just reapply when the class is finished, and I will see you in the spring".

(Sorry I saw when I searched for this thread lol)
Quite possibly, but definitely not 100% decided....
The drive is only 10 minutes if i take CSULA.
I hate the +/- grading, but I have checked the masters programs i want, and people still get accepted with 3.7 gpa. Which means that the possibility of A- grades will not really hurt me, too much....
Ahhh... this is really tough decision for me.
Choosing LA may be a better decision just because of the commute. Plus, the fact that A- can be acceptable, and I would only finish 6 months behind the Trimester Spring cohort from LB.
So ya, I don't know what I'm gonna do yet....
Actually, after rereading that, I will probably just stick with LA......But then again, a little vacation would be nice...
oh my... The struggle is real, y'all.....
Yeah, You will get into CSULA program for sure. I emailed Monalisa Ward regarding my application, I have gotten a 9.15 and got rejected, She also told me that the cut score was 9.35. Which yields me to 2 CSUs to choose from (and, that is if I get accepted).
THE STRUGGLE IS REAL. Does anybody know when will CSULA be sending admission status for FALL 2014?

Do you guys think they already know who's going to accepted and wait listed and rejected? They're probably waiting until the 25th to throw some applications out... I'm sure there's people with like 29s that will miss the deadline to update grades *fingers crossed* lol I know off a fact people WILL miss this deadline especially more competitive candidates that got interviewed at csulb
