CSULA- ELMN 2012

Published

I thought we should start a thread for CSULA ELMN summer 2012 applicants since applications are due next month and I'm interested in talking to other people that are applying. Does anyone know how they choose acceptance- is it based on the same point system as their BSN program? Also, does anyone know if they look at cumulative gpa or just the last 60 semester/90 quarter units? There's a few quarters my sophomore year where I slacked off on some classes, but my last 2 years have been much better, so obviously I would prefer that to be weighed more. CSULA seems to focus more on grades than other schools I plan on applying to as there didn't seem to be much room for volunteer experience, certifications, etc. outside of the essay so I'm a little nervous. Anyhoo, I would love to get to know other people who are also applying & any info from people who have already went through this process before would be awesome : )

There is one person in our current cohort that applied to the Psych track. In general, there are not very many people that go into that track, and they only run it if enough people sign up for it.

Thanks for the info. I hope enough people apply for the psych track. Do you think it's too late for acceptance, since I have not asked for an interview?

I'm pretty sure ---- notified some people pretty late last year, but if you are concerned you can call or write her an email. Good luck!

Thanks for ur reply. I will email her for sure!!! I've been talking with her frequently over the last year, and I don't want to pester her too much but I will send her one more message :) thanks again!!! Xo

hey guys, i'm also waiting for an interview. i got accepted to three other schools so i want to find out soon! CSULA is my first choice!!! good luck, guys!

Hi all,

I interviewed this afternoon at CSULA and it went well! The coordinator is really nice and her questions were very similar to the ones that have been posted here. The writing portion was kind of frazzling but I think I managed to write something fairly coherent. She did say that she was currently scheduled to interview people through March 22 and would be calling or emailing decisions soon after that. Hope that eases some nerves of interviewees since we are getting closer!

If you haven't been invited to interview yet, you might want to email the coordinator to see if she is still reviewing applications. She seems like she would tell you directly where she's at in the process.

Good luck everyone!

Thank you so much susan007! Looks like we'll be hearing from the coordinator end of March or early April regarding decisions!

Hey all!

I just found this site and wanted to jump into the conversation.

I interviewed two weeks ago and am basically going insane waiting for the decision!!!!

I had forgotten how stressful college applications can be!

So... is it the general concensus that we should be hearing from CSULA by the end of March?

i am also going crazy waiting for her decision (i interviewed 2 weeks ago as well!). i need to notify UCLA of my decision by March 19th so i'm hoping to here back from K before then!!!

@lilpeapods: She seemed pretty firm when she told me that official decisions would be made after March 22. So you might have to accept to UCLA and then decline after you hear from CSULA (if that's still your first choice...) The more I learn about the CSULA program, the more interested I am in their NP tracks. But I have an interview at CSUF on March 22 too, which was a weird coincidence, so a lot will be happening at the end of the month, I guess.

You can also try emailing her about your situation and see if she can give you any more info.

@susan007 - congrats on a successful interview! and thank you for your advice on my situation. i guess i will go ahead and accept UCLA, then withdraw my acceptance if CSULA wants me. i feel bad about doing that, but i don't want to risk losing my spot!
