CSULA ELMN Fall 2009???

Hello! I was just wondering if anyone out there has applied to the CSULA ELMN program for Fall 2009? Maybe we can discuss what everyone's heard about their application, interviews, TEAS scores, etc.

is it really 2 months away?? I thought we'd hear by April 1st.

and to LovinNP, the LA triathalon sounds amazing! I have a lot of respect for those who are motivated/fit enough to do that--it's tough stuff!! I, myself, could definitely NOT do that...running is not my favorite thing to do :D

P.S. I think the three of us have dominated this thread!!!

not as great. i dont remember the percentile ranks. but the score before that.. 99, 86.5, 73.6, 85.

Hi there, I have not been to this post in awhile! Zoogurl, I also have an interview on the 7th...hope to see you there! So exciting! (I also heard on Friday, but by email) Don't give up hope everyone else, I'm sure there will be more interview invites to come!

Congrats! So that makes 2 people so far... I really hope I'm somewhere in the next group to be interviewed. CSULA is my top choice by far.

I forgot to ask, did you ask Kathy how many applicants she got this time? I'm kinda curious as to what the odds are.

I just spoke to Kathy. For a busy lady, she's pretty good about calling people back.

And I got some more info. She said that she got about 150 applicants this time around. She's doing all the interviews herself and hopes to be ready to send out notifications by April 1st. She's currently still in the midst of it. She doesn't really know how many students she's going to call because it's based on how everyone compares to each other.

LovinNP: Did you ask her any personal questions regarding your application OR did you keep your questions general like the things that you posted above?

Personal questions like how I ranked against other students? Is that what you mean? If it is, then no I didn't ask her about that. I didn't want to risk the chance of annoying her. Part of me wish I did ask though because I'm really curious.

I got an email today from Prof. Hinoki to schedule an interview. Around 5:40 pm on Fri. She's hardworking. So I guess she's continuing to call or email w/ interviews.

Anybody have any idea how many they interview for how many spots? It is a little bit comforting to know that maybe my chance improved from 1:10 to (I hope) 1:2 or something like that. I am also doing interview with CSUF next week and alread did with CSUDH, which I think I tanked (for one, I arrived late)

Hi, Everyone:

I still haven't gotten a call or email for an interview, but I haven't given up hope yet. Today, I logged on to the GET website, clicked on the Student Center, scrolled down to admissions and became overjoyed when I read that I'd been accepted. I clicked on the accept/decline link and read this message : "We are pleased to grant you admission to the following program(s). Note that once you accept or decline admission to a particular program it will no longer appear on this page. Select the program you would like to accept or decline."

I then realized that this only meant that I was accepted to the University, not the ELMN program. I double-checked with Admissions and they confirmed it. I'm trying to be patient while keeping myself from calling Kathy Hinoki and hoping with all my heart that she'll call or email soon to invite me for an interview.

Same here. I received a letter from csula. When I saw it in my mail stack, I thougt finally some closure. I tore it open and was disappointed bc it was just a letter from the admissions office. -_-,

My theory on the whole interview process...I think if the people she called in for this week does poorly, she will be calling in more people. I read the 2008 post for csula and applicants were notified of acceptance March 31st.

Fyi: If you are still waiting for a call, expect to get them Wed and Fri. She is only in the office those two days out of the week.
