CSUF ABSN Fall 2021

Hi all! 
I just wanted to create this forum for students who are applying to CSUF Fall 2021 for the ABSN program in case we had questions for each other, wanted to share thoughts, stats and to support each other through this journey. 
 

Hey everyone, I also got an invitation for an interview! So excited and nervous. Good luck to all of you! ?

Same I also got an interview and I’m in shock because I only have a 3.5 GPA and 3.7 prereq and had to repeat some prereqs because I didn’t too well back then...but I’m guessing my volunteer experience helped and my essay...I’m glad CSUF also looks at other factors!!

same! what did you volunteer for? my cumulative was 3.49 but I was guessing my outside factors contributed a lot. I am so happy!

I got an interview too! Based on everyone's comments so far, they look at applicants holistically.

Yeah I think they used to do the points system but switched to holistic. I think I have around a 3.7 overall & 4.0 prereq, plus a CNA license. Blows my mind that I'm not competitive at an ADN program LOL. No work experience. The essay probably got me into the interview. Curious to see what they ask us.

They received a big diversity grant and part of the requirements are to have a holistic admissions process. If anyone was wondering why that prompt was diversity themed LOL.

It all makes sense now. That was a hell of a prompt to write for. When I first saw it, I was like "uhh, well I have that diversity-focused humanities degree???" ? Had to think about it awhile.

It's what they're using instead of an interview. There are pre-recorded questions, you get some time to prep for them, and then you have to answer them. You only get one shot at the questions, but there are practice ones before the actual assessment so you can get a feel for how the process goes.

They used it for the last semester instead of doing in person interviews or virtual interviews. I wish they would do actual Zoom interviews like the other schools, I would like to get a better feel for the program and be able to ask them questions.
