Thought I'd start at Fall 2020 thread for CSUEB to see if anyone else here is preparing to apply for Fall 2020 in Hayward.
I'm finishing up my pre-reqs this Fall and just signed up for the TEAS. Getting pretty excited as I feel like some of my hard work is starting to pay off and just wondered if anyone else is too. Here are some of my stats: science GPA 4.0, cumulative 3.97, local admin points and health hours are good.
I've never written a personal statement before which is now required, anyone have any tips? I want as many of those 20 points possible as I can manage!

Hi there! I know this is pretty late responding, but they have strict rules about how we do our personal statements. For instance I'm 99% sure that it says on their personal statement guidelines page that if any of your answers are over 300 words then your whole statement is invalid & therefore your nursing application is invalid. It really sucks, but that's for them to see if applicants can follow directions closely.
A bit late to this thread -but wanted to ask how everyone is feeling about the cohort being deferred an entire year? I was under the assumption the other CSU campuses would follow suit, but East Bay is actually the only one that has decided to cancel/defer. To my present knowledge, SJSU, Sacramento state, and sf state are still moving forward in some sort of capacity (whether its classes online/clinicals in person, or a completely online format). Does anyone know why East Bay was the only campus that decided to cancel instead of move to a hybrid format?

That is really a shame. It sucks that they presented it as something every other school was going to do but really they are the only ones in the bay doing it.
CONGRATS on CSM!! You get to start on time and get out on time which is great ?

Thank you! Keeping my fingers crossed CSUEB changes their minds and launches their program earlier than expected.

I have also heard from other students that it's also due to their partner hospitals not being able to accept students this semester b/c of covid. It really sucks & is so disappointing.

But other schools are making it work ? . Samuel Merritt for example, they were supposed to have psych rotations for 1st semester students (but can't), so they were able to arrange to send the students out on community enrichment/volunteer projects instead. East Bay's reaction to just cancelling it worries me about the resources/level of education they are prepared to give.
Is anyone considering applying to another school for Spring 2021 to see if they can get in earlier?

I understand the frustration & honestly I do understand the hesitation. However, I'm not really concerned about their level of preparedness for us as students because they've always held a really good reputation. I have heard that the first semester Concord students were struggling so badly with the transition, & others have told me that they wouldn't want us to have to start our first semester doing everything online because you lose so much if you aren't able to participate in labs & sim. It's the furthest from an ideal situation for the students & the schools :(. I haven't considered applying anywhere else tbh, & at this point wouldn't want to go through another application cycle.

I am slightly concerned that they will cancel fall 2021 again which would be detrimental. East bay is my first choice but I’m having a hard time fully trusting them and putting all my eggs in their basket because they are cancelling cohorts so early on. All I can think about is how screwed I’ll be if I commit to fall 2021 and they defer us a whole year again. Two years waiting to start nursing school? I would loose it... I’ve emailed them regarding my concern but they can’t see the future or promise anything.

@B-fantastic You are absolutely not alone! The vast majority of incoming & current nursing students are being impacted by this. In the mean time, I'll use next semester & possibly Spring 2021 to take the 3 upper level general ed classes we would normally have to take in sequence with the nursing curriculum anyways to lighten the workload when it comes time to start.
