CSUEB - Cal State East Bay Nursing BSN Spring 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Hi All,

I was curious to see who else applied for CSUEB for Spring 2019?

I'm curious to see how the transition to semesters and the specific campus for Spring/Fall may have changed applicant pools.

Best of luck to everyone who applied!

Hello everyone!!

I also applied for spring 19! My prerequisite GPA is a 3.76 which is low. My overall GPA is a 3.86. On my TEAS I scored a 92 and I have 552 hours paid working experience. A lot of my friends have better stats, working experience, and language points but I'm hoping I still get in! Best of luck to everyone!

Hey everyone,

I have a question. I see people keep posting their overall gpa, but I see nothing in the CSEB nursing criteria that asks for overall gpa. It seems like they only calculate prerequisite gpa for entrance into the nursing program...am I missing something here?

I applied for Spring '19 as well:

- 4.0 pre-req gpa

- 93.3 Teas

- over 2,000 hours paid direct multicultural work / 100 hours volunteer in hospital

- Second language

Also, I saw someone above mentioned something about a personal statement. Where in the application process were personal statements made? I'm a second bachelor's, so not sure if that's something that all applicants have to do?

they no longer take the personal statements. To break a tie they now look at who had the highest science score on their TEAS.

I have classes Monday through Friday. Eight classes in total this semester. About half are practical setting, and the rest are lecture based. Some days I have three classes and I'm on campus all day, then some days only have one. I spend my time between classes studying or catching up on homework with the occasional break to eat lunch or chill out. We also have clinicals one day a week, and depending on your clinical site your shift is about 4-5 hours. It's a busy schedule but it is manageable. There is still time to be with friends and relax, you just have to be diligent and very organized about your school work. The program is very rewarding!

NSkayJay,

Do the clinicals increase as semesters go on? Is it a Psych clinical to match "Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing" the first semester?

Also, I know clinical hours vary wildly, but what time range are your typical nursing classes? What's the earliest and latest?

Thanks for the insight.

Hey David,

Yes, pretty much we have a clinical to match what we are learning in lecture. Next semester we will have Med-Surg clinical while we are learning about adult nursing. The following semester we will learn maternity and therefore have a clinical in labor and delivery/maternity and so on.

As far as classes go it depends on what section of the cohort you are in while you enroll in classes. Some people have 8am classes five days a week while the rest of us have two. Clinicals typically start early in the morning around 7am.
