Hi All,
I was curious to see who else applied for CSUEB for Spring 2019?
I'm curious to see how the transition to semesters and the specific campus for Spring/Fall may have changed applicant pools.
Best of luck to everyone who applied!

Hello! I applied for East Bay's Nursing Program for the Spring of 2019 and I would definitely be interested to hear about your GPA stats or the overall stats of those who were accepted into the program last semester! Thanks!
Hey Cassieaustin,
I had a 3.6 GPA which I think was on the lower end, but I made up for it with volunteer experience. I had 280 hours of volunteer patient care experience at an in patient hospital. My TEAS was also an 82%. Unfortunately, I don't know the average GPA for those who got accepted but from asking around I found that the range was between 3.5 and 4.0.
Good luck I hope you get accepted!
Let me know if I can help with anything else!
Thank you for responding! I have a 3.83 overall GPA and a 92% on the TEAs test, but I don't have any volunteer experience in the medical field. So I'm not really sure how much emphasis they put on grades alone! Thanks for all your help!

Hi everyone! I applied with a 3.89 gpa overall and a 93 on the teas. I have 85 hours of indirect healthcare experience volunteering at a hospital. No language or military.
You both have great stats! Good luck!

Thanks for posting and offering your help! How is it going in your cohort so far?

Hey cassieaustin -
I think the grades are weighed heavily. Since they are worth 50 points and the TEAS is worth 35. Out of the 800+ applicants, I imagine these two categories narrow the field down to the top 25-35% that have a tie in points at the potential cutoff. Then factor in the optional categories like previous healthcare experience, second language, native student and military experience and that is what truly separates the top contenders from being in or out of the cutoff point values.
That being said, if you can nail many or all of the optional criteria points, you can potentially score significantly lower on the TEAS and have a lower GPA than the average admitted scores.
Anyone else have a take on this?
So far its great! We have 8 classes this semester so they are keeping us very busy. My cohort is composed of a lot of great people and it's been easy to make friends and study buddies. We are also starting clinicals in the Mental Health/Psychiatric field.
Your breakdown of how they score your application sounds accurate. I just want to add that I heard they use your personal statement as a tie breaker if it comes down to you and another student competing for a spot!
